I used to work the overnight shift at work, now I'm trying to adjust to normal sleeping hours. How can I get my body to fall asleep when I want it to? Lately it seems I just lay awake and toss about in bed.

I often have trouble falling asleep so I started drinking “Sleepy Time” tea by Celestial Seasonings. It’s 100% natural herb tea that is also caffeine free. It causes you to feel drowsy and mellow. You can find it at your local grocery store. Also try not to eat or work out at least two hours before you plan to go to bed.

*sweet dreams

For a good night's sleep without drugs, I brew a light tea from the following herbs:
Chamomile
Valerian
I use about a teaspoon of each in a pint of water. Bring the water to a boil, turn it off and steep the herbs in it for about 5 min. If you find the taste to be objectionable or too bland, you can add a touch of mint for flavor. You may also add honey and cream to taste without affecting the medicinal effect.

Sometimes when I have problems going to sleep, and I'm just laying there, I will stop, and in my mind, bit by bit tell my body to relax. ie: I start with telling my toes, and feet to relax, then my legs, torso, arms, neck, head, and tell myself it's time for sleep. That usually works for me. Hope that helps you.
