Study every day
Before an exam, study right before going to sleep, and again as soon as you wake up.
I find that I memorize things better when I write down the key facts over and over, each day--until they sink in. That's the only way the studying before the tests works for me.

Read the Book Brain Food. It has all kinds of tips on how to remember things including things to eat, steps to take and a lot of other stuff. Whats worked for me is association. Relate your terms to something that you do know, a life experience and recall that. Not to be gross but my husband and I play strip study during finals week. Its funny but if I am taking a test and I cant think of the term I can usually remember what article of clothing was coming off when the question was asked and the term comes back to me. We just did this last semester and for the first time since I started college I got 4.0 Good luck
