I have made the drive from Atlanta to Macon several times. It takes approximately 1.5 hours if you go with the flow of traffic - speed limit driving will take longer.

Depending on traffic and the time of day you go, its about an hour and a 1/2 to a 2 hour drive and its almost 84 miles.

there have been spottings of alligators in the Chattahoochee river in Atlanta diverse instances. The DNR and fisheries people have confidence they are pets that have been released and not a needless to say reproducing inhabitants.
