It is always better to maintain oral hygiene
You should detect and treat skin ailments quickly.
You should have periodic check up of blood and urine.
One diabetic should not marry another diabetic.
You should never stop medication even if you have fever, nausea, and/or even when you are fasting.
You should carry your diabetic identity with you, along with your name, address and telephone number to enable immediate relief and/or rescue.
Make it a habit to have monthly weight check-up.
You should get yearly X-ray examination of your chest.
Blood relatives of a diabetic patient must get their own check-up done regularly.
Herbal medicine can help in prevention without any side effects.
Wear shoes all the time if you are a diabetic patient. If you do not want to wear shoes indoors, wear slippers with hard soles and good support.
Exercise is the most important of all. However, what is even more important is that you pick an exercise that you enjoy. As a rule, people with diabetes are encouraged to exercise regularly for better blood sugar control and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications. These precautions will help you in leading a healthy life without any complications.

Please get a med-alert bracelet or necklace diabetic/ and meds you are taking (all of them). Eat/exercise as instructed by dr/nutritionist. Keep candy/orange juice on hand in case of a reaction. And if you have a reaciton, get your sugars up quick, and follow up with a P&J sandwich or some kind of protein/carb combo (snack crackers w/cheese) within 20 min. of sugars going up with orange juice, etc. LIVE LIFE NORMALLY. Just keep in mind that you need to follow dr. instrucitons. Please let your family/friends know about the diabetes, and what to do in case of reaction, etc. I wish you the best. Take care.

Eat properly. Check your blood sugar often. Don't smoke, drink, or use drugs. With a healthy lifestyle, diabetics can live a fairly normal life. It runs in my family, and although I don't have it, I am very familiar with it.

in conjunction with these answers, you should also know how your body responds to hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, and how to treat both. You should also wear a medic-alert bracelet or necklace, so medical personal can treat you if needed.
