They're just intollerant jerks hon. Don't worry. There are lots of churches that are more open-minded. Look for them.
Remember "you know you have the right god when he hates all the same people you do." Those people live for that motto.

The Bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin, but we are all sinners, just having hatred towards another person is the same as murder in God's eyes, but he sent Jesus to earth to save us from our sins, so as long as you believe that Jesus is your savior you should be alright. Faith and faith alone is the only way to heaven and it is a guarantee.

Genesis 19; 4-8
4 Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. 5 And they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them [carnally."] 6 So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him, 7 and said, "Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly! 8 "See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof."
There are many good deeds mentioned in the bible, but don't ignore the evil ones. When evaluated, this story says that it should be more acceptable to rape a woman than engage in homosexuality. Beware of any culture that thinks this way. I am a straight man who doesn't understand why homosexuality is such a major issue. Homosexuals harm no one and should be looked upon as anyone else. There is nothing wrong with your lifestyle and don't allow anyone to make you believe any different. Religion takes a definitive stand against it so be prepared to be ridiculed and judged. Remember you can still have faith without organized religion. Sometimes its better that way. Good luck to you.

Heh. Interestingly enough, in the incident where Jesus healed the slave of a Roman officer, there's currently a debate about the exact translation of the term that's been rendered as "slave". It might have meant "slave" in the sense of a male concubine.
If that's the case, then it looks like Jesus had no problem whatsoever with gay people.
From the link listed below...
"A classic example is provided in Matthew 8. There, a Roman soldier asked Jesus to heal his "pais." This is a Greek term often used in ancient times to refer to a servant who was his master's same-sex partner. (K.J. Cover, Greek Homosexuality (Harvard University Press, Cambridge, 1978), p. 16). When the soldier said, "Lord, my 'partner' is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible distress," Jesus was immediately compassionate and spoke no words of exclusion or condemnation. He simply said, "I will come and heal him."
In the dialogue that followed, Jesus commended this Roman solider for having more faith than anyone he had ever met and assured him that he would sit down in the Kingdom of Heaven with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. By this miracle of healing, Jesus preserved this loving same-sex relationship. (For more information about the Greek term referred to above and how it should be translated, see the book recommended below.)
The Gospels are clear. Jesus refused to be bound by cultural prejudice. Repeatedly, he took up the cause of the oppressed and defended them against narrow-minded religious leaders."
And from the second link...
"Jesus did not live in Jewish Judea but in pagan Galilee. Here he would surely have been familiar with the Roman army's tolerance for homerotic relations extending across class lines. Jesus knew this was likely a homosexual relationship and by his cure indirectly endorsed it."

Jesus didn't have to say anything about homosexuality, enough is said in the Torah or Old Testament about it and it will never cease to say what it says and God will never change His mind on the subject. Jesus is the living word of God and Jesus said if you love Him you will follow His commands. And obey God's word. Sorry, loving Him means turning away from what you love, being gay, and dieing to your sinful nature and trusting Him. It is a process, but you can't CONTINUE to be gay and say you love Jesus. You might have gay thoughts that don't go away over night but if you listen to what God says in His word, "Resist the devil and he will flee", then by resisting you are showing Him you love Him and take His word seriously and eventually, you will be set free from the desires that keep you out of God's will.

Tell those people to read their bible and follow scripture... Judge not lest ye be judged. Your relationship with Jesus Christ is personal and between you and him. You are a child of God and you are a follower of Jesus Christ. He loves you. He created you. Keep your faith and let no one deter you from following your beliefs. Find a church that is accepting of all people and continue to learn and grow in your walk as a Christian. Take care. God Bless You.

Why would they tell you your going to hell?.. They sin just like you do.. Even though homosexuality is not acceptable to God, so are all the other sins we do. No sin is greater than the next. But you cannot accept homosexualilty as an excuse to sin. You know it is wrong and need to work on it just like some people need to stop watching pornography or having sex with multiple partners. Control the lust of your flesh. Ask God He will help. Jesus loves all, if he hated you because of your homosexuality then he would hate us all, because we all have sinned.

The bible does not specifically forbid hetro or homosexuality. It just condemns the practice of them and only hetrosexual in marriage. So long as you remain celibate and do not practice then you are accepted by Christ.
1 Cor 6:9 Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
It says "offenders" not believers. If you don't offend by doing homosexual acts then you will be saved.

Homosexuality is a cross some people bear. We all have a cross of one thing or another. Choosing to act on it or not is the difference between being a christian or not being one. You can go to a more "open minded" church. "Open minded" means that they are choosing their own ideals over Gods.

You sound as if your religion really matters to you. That is recommendable and a very good start. Please consider the scriptures below and you'll understand that our love of God is expressed through our obedience to his commandments!
You therefore have quite a challenge ahead of you if you want to be found approved by God. Repentance and forgiveness is possible, but it demands that one does not practice Biblical sin.
I will say this though to try to still your fears, death is only a sleep-like state. Nobody suffers there. Still, the Christian hope is superior to that.
Please be fervent in prayer, in Bible reading and meditation (especially the New Testament), study the Bible with someone.
When you pray pray for help with your problem to God in the name of Christ / Jesus Christ / Jesus.
(Darby)
1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.
Matthew 7:22-23 "Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power? 23and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you"
1 John 3:3-6 And every one that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as *he* is pure. 4Every one that practises sin practises also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5And ye know that *he* has been manifested that he might take away our sins; and in him sin is not. 6Whoever abides in him, does not sin: whoever sins, has not seen him or known him.

There is nothing wrong there. Nothing at all. Do you really believe that Jesus would rather you live a lie? I don't think so. And even though I am personally no longer a Christian, I would say listen to Jesus, not the bigots.
