But when he blows his nose blood mix with snott come out. then he has crusty around his nose that look like is nose is bleeding. and some of the blood looks brown. Do you think that it is just becasue of his cold or do you think it is something more serious?

i would venture a sinus infection as the most likely...bloody noses in kids is by picking (#1 cause) but if you add the other signs and symptoms...sinus...
how old is your son and what have you been doing?
use a vaporiser/humidifier at night, no milk, cheese or dairy, increase clear liquids, antihistamines and decongestants to open up and dry the nose, tylenol alternated with advil for the fever...good luck

It sounds as though the mucus membranes lining his sinuses are bleeding a little bit. Assuming it IS only a small amount, it will clear up as he gets better. Should it become heavy bleeding, or should his infection become worse, it's definitely time to seek the help of a doctor. If he has a sinus infection, he may need to be treated with antibiotics, especially if the mucus is thick or green.

As everyone else has said, its probably just his cold. have him go visit the doctor. the red-brown stuff that dries up around his nose might just be coagulated blood, which isnt serious (I get bloody noses all the time, no i dont pick my nose) but really, i havent seen his nose so i dont know what it is exactly. Who knows? it may be that he has a chapped nose or something (you know, like chapped lips....) im not a doctor, so dont totally trust my info

I agree with the first two above but the brown is just old blood nothing to worry about. Hope your son feels better soon: Blueladybug

It's probably just his cold. Try using a humidifier and add a little Vicks to the water: That's what we used to have to do for my nephew when he would get sick.

If that doesn't work, consider a visit to the doctor.

Good luck!
