What works best, spraying your cat in the face with a mist of water, dumping water on her, or something completely different? Thanks!!!

If we see our cats doing something we dont approve of our methods differ. If one of them is scratching the furniture, we take it over to the scratch post. For most anything else (hissing at the dog, getting in the trash, etc) we use a squirt gun. It seems to work for use because the cat associates it whatever activity it is doing, not you punishing it because they seldom SEE us point the squirt gun at them. This has been very effective. Also, if the do something good, give them a cat treat, pet them, etc. Good Luck

I have always used a sharp or mild no, depending on the offense, the change in my voice lets them know they are doing something wrong. I never liked the idea of spraying a cat with water or hitting them. Another thing that works well when your cat is doing something you don't like is distracting them with a toy. They will forget what they were doing.

Unless you want a psycho cat don't dump water on her! you can (mist) spray her but if she is like any cat i know she will learn to tolerate it and maybe even like it ha ha. Also you should never ever hit a cat on its body or butt they will not associate it with their wrong doings they will just think you are beating them because you don't love them. yelling really doesn't work but you can make a loud sudden noise like a loud clap or stomp...the best thing is a little tap on the tip of her noes with two fingers ...and it has to be consistent not just now and then- she will not learn.

I had four cats at once and believe me they would misbehave. I found the best method to be a gentle tap on the nose , this gets their attention and does not give them a fear of water. I bathed my cats twice a week, if the were afraid of water I could have never kept a clean house. Be sure that you pat or rub their heads when they have done something you approve of. this helps them to distinguish good from bad behavior.

Try putting pennies in a coke can & shaking it when she does something bad....the noise scares the cat & the cat runs off- Spraying with a spray bottle works really well too!!!

Spray the cat with a water pistol, but never in the face he/she will get the hint if its just on her/his body. Never smack a cat as it does not teach them anything, you will jus tend up with a agresive of very timid cat

Time out in the cat carrier in the laundry room for 10 mins on the worst offences. A simply "pssst" or "Noooo" on "about to be perpetuated infractions."

depends on what it is doing. when we lived on a farm and had over twenty cats, at feeding time they would climb the screen on the door, so i threw buckets on them when the weather got warm and in about a month they quit. now we only have one cat but he bites so we squirt him in the face so far this does not work though. the vet said to thump him on the nose but that only made him bite harder. so i started pressing his skin of his mouth against his teeth as he is biting me and it is seeming to work.
