Chew ropes - Are alright as long as they are really STRONG. We one of the larger braided ropes and my pit somehow unbraided it and started eating the strings so we had to confiscate it. I reccomend the Booda Super Tug - You can play tug with your dogs or let your dogs play tug with each other. It's a healthy way to exercise your pooch. This tug is also machine washable so it doesn't get all funky and leave your carpet stinking like dog slobber
Real bones (not chicken bones)- Are good. My brother brings home big beef bones from his work and they last pretty long and dogs love em. But just don't boil them cuz they'll break apart and they can choke.
Galileo Bone - One of the strongest dog toys made. I recommend this one, that is, if you can get over the shape........
Bully sticks - This is a smoked, dried bull's penis (really, I swear!). Since Bully sticks are muscle, they do digest and will not break off in chunks like rawhide. My dogs love these things. They are a little pricey, but can be gotten for a decent price at dog shows or pet expos.
The Almost Indestructible Ball - It's quite big. Dogs will drive themselves crazy trying to get it into their mouth. But it will wear them out and last a very long time.
The Kevlar Frisbee - If there was one toy I would highly recommend this would be the toy. Durable as toys come, great fun, and can be used just about anywhere the Kevlar frisbee is a perfect Pit Bull toy.
Rawhide - This is one thing my dogs are NOT allowed to have. If a chunk of rawhide is torn off and swallowed, it will not digest and can block a dog's intestines.

Hi Stevercm!
Staffies love a challenge and variety. Owners need to protect these dogs from injuring themselves. Some staffy prefer durable chew toys while others are happier giving a good chase.
I recommend that you keep a variety of toys on hand so that you can rotate them in and out of your dog's active stash to keep your dog from getting bored with them.
The size of a toy is an important consideration. Kongs, balls, and other typical toys must be small enough that the dog can chew them and carry them, but not so small that they can become lodged in the dog’s mouth or throat.
Durability is a factor, especially for a dog that loves to chew. A toy that will break apart easily can become a hazard as the small, sharp parts can be swallowed, caught in the throat, or cut the mouth and gums. Again, a hard rubber Kong (easily one of the best dog toys ever conceived) is an excellent choice. Please look article:http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Dog_Toys/
Many shops have toys available for your staffy and answer questions to help you determine the specifics of your dog's need.

I would try a thick chew rope, ask at your local pet shop if they have anything they can suggest particularly for a Staffy. You can get a rope in the shape of a figure 8 that my staffy used to love pulling me about by. As dogs go they rock but they have a hell of a lot of energy. Bones are good as a treat, make sure they are suitable bones though!

I have a female staffy & i buy her the oven baked hard bones you can get from pet shops , these are about same size as her head if not bit bigger & they keep her going for hours & hours & hours . I also buy a bone thats called " vanilla nylon " , vanilla in flavour & take extremely long time to chew through , can be expensive . a figure of 8 one can be upto £15 ! can get cheaper ones in different shapes, DO NOT GIVE A DOG CHICKEN BONES as they splinter & may choke your dog.You could ask your butcher for a bone for a staffy mine gives them free as they dont need the bones & only throw it away anyway, i would avoid pigs ears & hide toys/bones as they can not be chewed & digested properly & may result in expensive vets bills ! , rope toys are good for tug of war games , & the ones you can put treats in are good for when your out . some toys will be destructed in seconds & they are no good as some parts may be swallowed. staffys enjoy being played with & being with you so a good tickle is as good a play as any toy hun .hope this helps xx

A 'Boomer Ball'. they come in all different sizes but you need to get one about football size so they can't actually get there jaws round it. They will chase it all round the garden because they cannot pick it up. My daughter ordered it from the internet but I'm sorry I don't know the company name. She also ordered a hard plastic feeder/treats ball which was demolished in 20 minutes. We rang the company and they replaced it with another smaller Boomer Ball which was, alas demolished. Good Luck!

Be carefull with bones - cooked ones particullay can splinter - do'nt leave your dog on its own with one. I get Solid rubber balls from wilkinsons for 80p - my staff chews it and you'l get bit over the carpet - easily hoovered up tho - lasts for ages - and is cheap. Also the thick cardboard tubes out of rolls of bubble wrap - cut then up with a stanly knife or small hacksaw about A4 lengths I normally do - keeps him occupied for ages!
Be aware how destructive your dog is - my male staff is quite a big one - his black kong lasted ages - Brilliant dogs but as you probably know staffs need stern training or they'l walk all over you - also a sh*t load of excersise = less destruction

try him on a bone but never leave him on his own with it in case he breaks a bit off and gets it stuck
not sure a rope toy would do as my lab managed to chew his way through his one in 3 days and it was the biggest one they sell!
