You can break your tailbone, and if you did, the pain would be excruciating. There isn't too much that can be done for a broken tailbone. After the fist 48 hours, the usual treatment is to manage the pain. This will probably hurt for a little more than a week if you have a bad bruise, and even longer for a break. The hardest thing for most people is trying to find a comfortable resting position and managing to sleep at night. If you aren't in severe pain, then you probably don't need to see a doctor.

Yes, it is possible to break your tailbone. The more likely cause of your pain is severe bruising, but only an x-ray could say for sure. If, however, it is broken, there is really nothing that can be done for it. Bruising would cause tremendous pain as well. (interesting tidbit: you can break your tailbone in childbirth!)

yep. Friend of mine fell on some ice last year and fractured her tailbone and surrounding area. Though she didnt walk great she was able to walk. Though over a year later she has issues with it. The whole area was bruised, into her thighs and back.

yes, but if you are walking you are fine. you just bruised it.
the tailbone or coccyx isn't completely fused until you are about 27, so... its really hard to break it unless you are over 40.

yes you can and if you sit straight down where your tailbone got most of the impact then I would say that you have broken it and it really hurts a lot.

Yes, it's possible, although it's far more likely a severe bruise. Do talk to your doctor, though.

Yes, it is possible. However, as long as you can walk, it's probably a bruise. See a doctor if you're not improving.
