My grandmother is always adding extra salt to her already salted foods, and it's affecting her health. Her feet and arms are swelling, but she refuses to believe that it's because of the unhealthiness of her foods. Is there a convincing healthy alternative to table salt that we could give her instead?

YES No salt, or add it at the table.

She has got to learn to enjoy the food, not the salt

Apply tough love if you can

Morton's Lite Salt might be what you are looking for. I personally use kosher salt myself. The extra salt added to her foods probably isn't the culprit here, but rather the amount of processed foods she's ingesting. They are usually loaded with sodium. You might want to opt for salt free products and then let her add some salt at the table. Or you can find products such as Mrs. Dash to add flavor without the sodium. You might also want to get Granny in to see the doctor to make sure she isn't going into heart failure. Edema is often a sign that the heart isn't working as well as it should be. Maybe she should be on a diuretic?

First of all table salt and sea salt are the same nutritionally. There is an alternative to table salt called "No salt". It is potassium chloride verses sodium chloride. I hear that it has a bitter taste. You could also try lemon juice to give that taste tang.
There are also many spice blends in the supermarket aisle that use spice blends without salt to give food an extra taste. As we grow older our sense of taste diminishes. Your grandmother adds salt to taste food. Her sodium intake is affecting her health.

Make your grandmother a dinner using these spice blends. Buy a variety of these blends for her to try. Make it fun. Let her know that you love her and want her to be around to enjoy her grandchildren.

Try a blend made my Mrs. Dash. There are some that have no salt added to them. They're more like a spice. But you can look into them if you'd like. We use them on popcorn as an alternative to salt and butter and it's very tasty.

Tell her that salt makes you retain water which is why she would be swelling and she probably has a bloated stomach too?
You should get her to try Bio-salt check it out here

seasalt is better for you, but it will still provoke swelling. Don't season your food before serving it, she is doing it herself and this should help cut back, also get a saltshaker that pours it out slowly, this way she'll just get fed up and start to eat...hopefully. Good luck!
