I don't know what meds you are taking, but I would suggest you take 2 Advill (ibruprofen) every 4 hours for aches and fever and an antihistamine for the stuffy nose. Gargle with warm salt water anytime your throat starts to get really sore. I'm not sure what the salted water does, but it sure makes your throat feel better. The antihistamine that I use is Claritin-D or Alavert-D. These meds are for allergies, but they seem to work well keeping the nose unstuffed. I also drink orange juice by the gallon when I have a cold. It just tastes good and you need the extra fluids to keep the congestion thinned so it will come out. My doctor swears by Robitussin DM for a cough and I agree with him. It does work. Feel better soon!

When I was small my nana used this treatment on me and I used it on my 5 kids. It has a soothing effect on the throat, chest and opens up the nose. Take a clean tube sock and smear it with Vick's or another mentholated vapor rub in the center on one side of the sock. Take a safety pin and loosly pin the sock around your neck with the Vicks against your throat and wear it to bed. When you wake up in the morning you will feel relif from the effects of the cold. It won't take the cold away but you will feel better. A cold is a virus with many mtations and as such it is very hard to get rid of. The only true cure for a cold is time usually 10-14 Days.

to best treat your symptoms and make you feel better-you really should try medication.
colds are viral so there is no medication out there that will cure them b/c as they pass from person to person the germs mutate (change form) so what will work for one person might not work for the next.
things like dayquil for daytime hours and nyquil for nite work great (i use these when i have a cold). they treat pretty much any symptom you have.
just make sure not to combine cold medicines together or take tylenol or motrin if you've taken a cold medicine b/c the cold meds already have tylenol in them. if you want to take ibuprofen alone for the fever, take 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.
non-medication treatments
-drink warm tea w/honey (avoid lemon if you can-it's acidic and can irritate a sore throat and make nose run more if those symptoms are present)
-put a warm mist humidifier/vaporizer in your room at nite while you sleep (walmart carries one made by Vick's for 10 bucks-works great). this will keep the air moist and help break up any chest or nasal congestion you have and also keep your throat from drying out and being sore.
-suck on ice or hard candies for sore throat
-gargle with warm salt water (2tsp of salt to 8oz water)
-take a warm shower to help break up your congestion and ease body aches
drink plenty of fluids to ward of dehydration. since you have a fever-you're body is burning of fluids that it needs. stick to water, gatorade, and sprite (or similar). avoid sodas and juice b/c they have high sugar content and can make dehydration worse.
rest as much as possible-this is your body's best defense and will help you get better quicker

Lots of juice & regular tea, as tannic acid in tea soothes sore throats. Bathes will help break up the congestion. Homemade chicken soup will help you feel better. Also, try sleeping with a humidifier running in your bedroom.
Tylenol or Motrin (with food) will help your fever & aches/pains.
Gargling with warm salt water also helps sore throats. You can suck on hard candy, too.
