Studying never worked for me. I had other techniques that work better, and they might work for you. Plus, this way the information actually STICKS in your mind. ;)
What you need to do is sit up front. That way you can make sure that you hear and see everything that you need to. Plus, it keeps you from distracting yourself with other things.
Next, remind yourself that you want to improve your grades and really put your mind to it. Motivate yourself. This is one of the most important things you need to do here. You have to be willing to learn something new. Find ways to make it fun for yourself (yes, there actualy are ways).
After youve done the above, just listen in class. This is very, very, VERY important. Just listen and think about it while youre listening. Dont distract yourself by talking or doing other things while in class because lets face it, its school - how much fun can you really have? It is better to actually do what youre supposed to IN school, than to spend your afternoon studying and trying to catch up. Youre in school for half of the day anyway, so make use of it and dont waste it. That way, when you get home you can do pretty much whatever you like without worrying about your grades.
Next up is doing your homework. This is a big part of your grade. When you think about it, homework is MUCH easier when you have listened in class because you know whats going on. If reading is required, read whatever you have to. Dont just skim to look for the answer, but actualy process the information given to you. All homework will be a breeze, and you will feel at ease knowing that you are keeping up.
Tests. If you have done all of the above, this should not be hard at all. If you listen in class, participate in any classwork and activities, and do your homework, you will definitely do better on your tests and most of the time you wont even have to study. This works better than studying because your brain doesnt just process the information once, it does so many times. That way, the chance of it sticking permanently is very high. When you study a couple of times, the result most likely will not be as good because the shorter the time spent on the subject (especialy ones that dont really interest you), the higher the chance that the time you remember it will also be as short.
Of course a review before the test is ALWAYS a good way to refresh your memory.
Try it, and see for yourself how much better you will do. This can lower stress too, if you do it right. Most of all you need to make yourself believe that you can do it and that you WILL raise your grades up. That is the key. It might sound "cheesy" or "corny" or any other type of yummy food, but the mind is a very powerfull thing.
The only way humans differ from animals is the power of the mind. Our brain capacity is of course, much higher than that of animals. This means that if you don't put your mind to use, you might as well be rolling around in that mud puddle in front of your pigpen.
Hope I helped! :)

I'm not sure what level of education you are at. But a good way to keep your grades are up is to consistently and constantly review the material. So after you have class, you might want to review the notes and information your teacher covered. Also, make a note of information you don't understand that way you can ask the question immediately. Don't procrastinate to study for tests. I always thought it was helpful to make flashcards to remember information.
Lastly, when it comes to studying, I always say quality is better than quanity. Meaning that if you spend a few hours really studying the material its much better than if you spend four hours just glancing at the info.
Keep up the good work. Unfortunately, colleges put a big emphasis on your GPA so you want it as high as you can.

First of all, dont do it for your mom, do it for yourself. When you get to college, you have to have the motivation to learn by yourself. I am learning this the hard way right now. Second, learn how to manage your time. This maybe a cliche but it is true. Set time for studying and time for yourself. All play and no study is obviously bad but all study and no play will drain your brain and it will become more difficult to remember stuff.

Study more. My child is an honor student. She was mistakenly put into geometry a year early. I'm hiring a tutor to help her get through this class. Your parents might consider a tutor for you as well, if you have a particular area that you struggle with. It's good that your thinking ahead to college. Best wishes!

it's not too late. think about what habits you had back when u were an A student. i bet you were more organized and had more motivation to get your work done no matter what. improve them by telling yourself that every day in class, every little quiz & homework assignment will help you gain as many points as possible to get better grades. study a little every day instead of cramming for tests and you will learn better. good luck!

I advise to det your priority and make a good study habit. What happen to you? If you have goals to target a high grade, study more until you hit it. Remember your future is in your hand!
I advise you also to lessen any night out activities. You hang-out with friends of you have free time.

In a couple of sessions you can get a hypnotist to teach you self-hypnosis which is a state of super concentration to improve your memory, study habits and test taking.
