My other moderators think we should start charging a fee to cover crafts and goods bags for parties. What do you all think? Usually members don't pitch in what they are supposed to so I think this may alleviate most of that. Would you all join a group that charged a fee????

We don't charge a fee to join. This will be the fee to join but it will be used on the children for the crafts and for festivities. It will be a mandatory fee because some may not want to pay a fee so we can't let them participate in the crafts but they will want to come to the parties and we will have so say well sorry you can't come because you didn't pay your fee or we are goiing to have to stuff it and either give their child a goody bag or not. We are doing $25 for 6 months to see how it works out and then if we have more left over we will lower the fee or if we had to use some of our own money we will higher the fee

Of course.

My MOMS club has a membership fee. Do you have a membership fee already? Or, are you charging a fee for the craft as an extra fee on top of the membership? A yearly membership at my MOMS club is $25.

I just like being around other moms, and having my son around other kids as most of as are stay at home moms. Its a barrel of fun!

No, there are too many free ones. I have been looking for a playgroup/mommy&me group and many of them charged fees.

I simply went to Craigslist and found two other moms in my situation (didn't want to pay a fee) and we meet once a week (or once every two) and if something costs, we will pay our own way. Works better that way for me.

Downfall - may not be as organized as a fee-based group with moderators and leaders, but I'm not an organized person anyway.

I hope that helped!

I would. People will take advantage of you if you'll let them. That would be a great way to make sure everyone pitches in.
