is there a bus or train to go on

There is a seasonal Amtrak thurway bus which connects Sonora to the trains in either Modesto or Stockton. Also there is some degree of public transit from Modesto toward that area. The START regional bus system runs service from Modesto to Oakdale route #60 and the neighboring county may have a connecting route from there.

Greyhound runs there twice a day, I believe.
You could look on CraigsList for a ride.
There is no trains service.
If this is going to be a regular thing, you may be able to hook up with someone who commutes.
