She's discovered that you react by her actions. If you ignore her, don't move, don't make a sound, she'll get bored, and go amuse herself some other way.
Oh, and I wouldn't worry about her paws carrying germs. Your mouth probably harbors more germs than her paws. Besides, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

Smart cat. She's found a very effective way to train you to get up in the morning and feed her or pay attention to her. Don't worry, it's normal. Paws on the nose or lips, nose to nose or licking the face and eyes. It's all happened before. She's just training you to be her human.
To keep it from happening you may just have to shut her out of the bedroom at night. That's what we do with our three cats.
Her paws are probably as clean as or cleaner than our hands at a given time, unless she just came from the litter box.

she wants you to wake up and play with her or go exploring with her... she obviously loves you and thinks you are another kitty. When you go back to bed, just say, "Shhhsh" while you touch her nose with your finger. Then get to bed and cover your whole body with your blanket. She'll try to paw you awake again. When she does, startle her by suddenly emerging from the covers like Behemoth or Leviathan, going: "psttttt" or "sshhush" loud as you can. She'll make for under the bed or out of the room. You'll see. She'll be loath to wake you up again.

Oh please don't worry about the "bacteria". You live with that all your life and it is inescapable and not at all something to worry about.
If you have taught her that doing this will get you up to attend to her she will continue to do it. She is very young and very much a "baby". Cats just don't sleep according to human schedules. You're actually very lucky she isn't getting you up at 4 AM.

It sounds like your cat is still not fully winged from its mother, I've had many cats in the past. Probly the most likely answer is that is your kittens way of notifying you to pay attention to him/her.

LOL. thats so cute. umm...i think that she is just happy to see you and wants you to get up and pay her some attention. my cat will do the same thing...sorta. he jumps up onto my back from the floor and then meows. i think it just means that they love you and want you to get up. if he is anything like my cat then he thinks when he is up YOU should be up too. LOL.

Maybe she's blocking your morning breath with her paws.....just kidding. She's just awake....and wants you to be awake with her so she can have your attention. She just wants to spend time with you.

It works doesn't? Gets you up every time and she gets what she wants. She'll keep doing it until it doesn't get you up anymore and then when that doesn't work she'll find another new way. lol ;}
