can your eyes spontaneously change color?

hey answers,

last night around 2 o'clock, i looked in the mirror to find that my eyes had changed from light brown to green. i got pictures and went to bed thinking i was crazy. then this morning i woke up and my eyes were back their normal color.

my question is: is it possible, or even common for people eye colors to change at random? this is the first time this has ever happened to me and i was wondering if there might have been something in my diet that caused this to happen, or maybe its just a once-in-a-lifetime thing?

im also 16, could this be part of a late stage of pueberty? i have friends who's eyes and hair color have changed since they were little kids. maybe my eyes are heading towards a permanent change to green?

strictly speaking eyes dont actually 'change colour', they just appear to. I have green eyes, except for half the time when they look brown.

This is because different colour pigments in the iris are reflected depending on your different surroundings. My eyes tend to look green when im dressed in lighter colours and brown when im wearing darker cause the different colours make the different pigments stand out more. Dont worry, youre not crazy :)

YES! My friend's eye color changes with the seasons and "events". You can do it in front of you if you want. Shakes your head like dog jerks, blink once or twice and look at your eyes; you may not "see" alot of change but your eyes just changed to a different color.

mine change from blue to green sometimes. i notice a lot of babies eyes are silver, that's a hot eye color. then their eyes change over time. i don't know about the science behind it but i know my eyes have changed a little bit sometimes.
