If this is a scientific interrogation, you should try reading a study. If it isn't, then you should be asking our opinions about how many partners a man should have, in which case I think that one is enough.

By partners, do you mean serious relationships or sexual encounters?
Normal is based on social custom, religion, parenting and social experiences such as rape and peer pressure.
I would say in this day and age in America the average ideal man has between 7-20 sexual partners and 3-6 serious runs at lasting happiness. Women ideally probably have 3-8 sexual partners and up to 4 shots at a soul mate. That's real general.
