Crime happens all over DC, as it does any major city. There are certain areas of SE and NE Washington DC that are considered extremely risky, primarily associated with the drug trade.
However, crime is probably most likely to happen to you when you are not alert and aware of your surroundings. Wherever you are in DC, pay attention to who, what, and where you are and who is around you. The more observant you are, the less likely you are to find yourself in a bad situation.

Pretty much anywhere in the city but Anacostia and most of Southeast DC have the worst crime rates, statistically.

Pennsylvania Avenue. Especially in the big white house at the end where the hillbilly family lives
