Well first off I am a single mother of a 15-year-old girl named Andrea. My sister has always helped me raise her. Now the other day Andrea asked where babies came from so I hesitated and sad, " Well... The female stork goes and puts the baby in the other female stork (Andrea can't know that there is an opposite sex of there) and a baby is born" Then I said, "And that's where you came from Andrea and then you were born and flew in on a butterfly." The day after that, her aunt (my sister) Sara told her about the instrument, the saxaphone. I pulled my sister aside and said, "Why did you tell her that she's not old enough to know about that yet. I was waiting to tell her some other day, but now she knows! She doesn't even know about the color orange yet!" Now my sister is mad at me. Did I ruin my family's lives?

Ummm....fallen_angel, Andrea isn't allowed to watch t.v. or have friends, so she cannot learn about sex from those things.

No, you didn't ruin your family's lives cuz apparently your family didn't have a life to start with.

Are you sure your kid is 15 and not 5...cuz if she's 15 then she knows all about sex.

Oh and you have to tell her about the color orange now, it's mandatory

We have a great family, what you need is a new family. We have a foster daughter that came and lived with us a year. She had a thoroughly dysfunctional family, alcoholic father, abused mother, domineering brother. Her shrink says that we are really her family even through we never had her long she learned what a really family is like and is trying very hard to break the cycle in her own family life. So find a friends family and ask to be 'adopted' since your own family makes you miserable. A happy family will gladly take you in and make you one of their own.

Ok um shes 15!?! well i think just old enough to know about sex without the whole stork crap. Unless shes mentally ill in a mind of a 8 yr old. But you did not mention that so i dont think thats the case. But if you think shes too young to know about that i think you are wrong and if she ends up getting pregnant by some guy that tells her it wont hurt her and it feels good. and she dosent know the facts i think it would be your fault i think anyone over 12 should be well educated on puberty and then at 13 all the risks consequences of sex and the actual facts. especially in todays crazy world.( i kno i have spelling mistakes but im in a hurry so sorry)

15 you say? By that age, she should be interacting with the opposite sex, and allowing the world of hormones to take control, at 15 she should know more than what it seems she knows. I myself am very confused mind you (being a guy, I won't be too much help) You did not ruin the family life, every day humans make a mistake, and relations are shut down sometimes, thats when communication is the best policy, communication will help you. Now mind you humans are a very troublesome group of people, but somehow we always find things out, were not supposed to know. Its just how life goes, now should your life fall like the German Empires...Start Again, with a brand new name.

Whoa! What kind of school do you have her in? Don't they all teach sex education in health class by that age. I don't know about ruining your families lives but I think you made a huge mistake by lying to her because she probably already knows the truth but just wanted to hear it from you and now she knows you are a liar and cannot trust you.
And whats the deal with the saxaphone and color orange?

Gosh, how could that possibably ruin your family's lives?

Most 15 year olds know more about sex than their parents do.

You must live in a remote area for your daughter to not know about where babys come from.

As a parent you need to be prepared to answer this question at each phase of a child's life.

And I am NOT sure why you not telling your daughter the facts would ruin your families lives.

Sit your daughter down and tell her the facts.

Wow.

You tell your 15 year old daughter about the stork?
That crap is for FIVE year olds! I was 9 when I got the sex talk!
SEX!
It is not bad at all!
And, if you were to think that not havving the sex talk dose not mean that your child will never have the desire for sex, your teribly wrong.

I hate to break it to you but 15 year olds who aren't educated about sex end up pregnant. Not only should she know where babies come from (my 7 yr old son know for Pete's sake!) but she should know ALL of the risks involved with sex. Do you want to be a grandma? Do you want her contracting an STD? You should be the first person to have this conversation with your daughter before she hears it from some guy who wants sex!!!

You didn't exactly ruined it, but it's so silly to tell your 15 yr old daughter that babies comes from storks. She's old enough to know about sex, so educate her. It's no wonder your sis got frustrated with you.
