I was in a relationship just like this not too long ago, we dated for about a year and a half. It wasnt as hard as you would think it might be, we talked everyday and emailed each other all the time. The only bad thing is that it does get really expensive and you really do have to come up with some sort of compromise on the time difference. I would suggest trying to talk at least twice a week and doing the whole exchanging of emails. Also make sure that you two switch on who calls who. Don't just let them be the one to always do the calling.

Wow! That is serious long distance!
My fiance and I have a long distance relationship (a state away). We talk on the phone every day, e-mail, and we instant message. We also use our headphones and microphone sets with the computer and talk though yahoo instant messenger (free and sounds clearer than a phone call).
The main thing is to keep communicating. That is vital in order to keep a long distance relationship going. You also really need to see each other as much as possible.

You should decide this between the two of you. However in a long-distance relationship you should be able to call whenever you feel the need to be close and make a connection.

I have been in a couple of these. My rule of thumb is that you should at least talk once a week. In long distance relationships, communication is the key! They can be incredibly difficult, but can absolutely work. Good luck!

Get him to let you visit and you can go TRAVEL! lol. Sorry, I love Europe. But, since you're so far, aim mainly for internet. If you can, get the Yahoo phone service, it doesn't cost as much as a phone would, and you can actually talk. However, it depends on your guy.

I wouldn't expect one too ofter. Really expensive depending on what type of phone service he has.
Don't be surprised if you don't get one at all

Having been in one myself for 3 years, this will make or break you. It is very hard waiting by the phone waiting for him to call, and he doesn't, it is very annoying. My trick is dont call him, make him chase you, dont wait and expect him to call, let him wait for your call, tell him you will call him, play his game.
