I just got a tattoo earlier today. when i got it done it bled a lil but it was normal. So i cleaned it up and put ointment (that they gave me) on it and it burns a lil bit. Not alot though. Is that normal and how long will it take for it to stop burnin?

Yes it is normal. Think about it ... you skin there is freshly cut ... Kind of think of it when you cut yourself shaving .. it burns when you put lotion on it right? When you start to heal up, the burning should stop. I have 15 tattoos and like half of them burned when I put lotion and or ointment on them for about 3-6 days.

But do keep an eye on it. Say like in 2 days if its red and feels hot, you might have a infection, and you'll need to have it checked out.

But for now I think you will be more than fine. Again, its a fresh wound.

it will burn the first couple times you clean and lube it. just be sure to only use A&D ointment on it. first aid or diaper aisle of any pharmacy. apply like lotion, massage it in. and pat off the excess with a clean paper towel. don't rub or scratch. it shouldn't look wet or too shiny or it will scab. A&D 5 times a day for first week to week and a half. after that use palmer's cocoa butter lotion. no alcohol in it!

Sounds normal to me. If the burning continues for another full day, let the tattoo shop know and they might have another solution for you to use. There's always a possibility you are allergic to that ointment, so keep a close eye on it.

Burning for a day is normal. Congrats on your tat!

you really shouldn't have any burning I found that curel lotion works the best and make sure you don't apply too much ointment or lotion or your color can bleed out .......Good luck with your new tat

Yea, be sure to keep something on it, a wet paper towel or something that will stay moist on top of your ointment on your tattoo.

Yes it is normal, it usually feels like a sunburn...if you have ever had one and it will for a few days....then it will at one point get itchy, at that point you will need a good non scented or colored lotion, Eucerin is one of the best.

Yes, it's normal to burn a little bit...and it will for a few days......your skin has thousands of microscopic holes punched in it now with ink smeared in them.....Mine quit hurting in four or five days.

good luck
