Frank, my "messed up" answer would be relatively the same here as in your previous question. The word "apostle" means "sent out." Usually we think of the eleven remaining disciples (after Judas offed himself) as "Apostles" (with a capital "A") when Jesus sent them out, so they would constitute a PRIMARY group (perhaps adding Matthias in Acts 1:26). The SECONDARY group included the seventy-two (Luke 11), those present at Christ's ascension to be sent out on His Great Commission (maybe including the 120), and Paul (1 Cor 15:9). Insofar as we obey the Great Commission, evangelical Christians ever since can also rightly be said to be apostles in a TERTIARY sense.

Most people think there were 12... There was 13!
Peter (Saul) was not part of the original 12.
Remember an Apostles is one who is sent out and Peter was sent! Check out Acts 22:15
"Have a great night!"

Twelve chosen by Jesus after prayer. Judas betrayal left eleven. After Jesus death the Apostles chose Mathias by lot after prayer, twelve. Saul was chosen by the resurrected Jesus and his name was changed to Paul, thirteen.
Peace....

Bible says there 12, those that traveled and 'lived with' Jesus. Most likely there were a good number of 'groupies' too...
