It sounds to me like you might just be a candidate for an American Pit Bull Terrier. They take some extra special care, and have their own special set of rules, but if you have a very strong personality and can handle a strong willed dog, I think they'd be right for you. I would like you to take a look at www.pbrc.net and learn a little about the breed....they are excellent companions, love exercise, are great with kids, and are driven solely by the purpose of wanting to please people. A few down points: APBT don't usually do well with other dogs, obediance training is a MUST, and they do require a leash/lead at all times outside of the house, unless they're in a yard with at least a 6' fence (they are the Houdinis of the dog world). I hope you check it out, get the facts for yourself, and make a wise decision about whether or not the (in my opinion, lol) best breed in the world, is suited for your family!

About 3 months ago i got a Cockapoo name Trixie. Shes GREAT with people and she has ALOT of energy to run and play. If i was you i would search for a Cockapoo. A Cockapoo is a mix between a cocker spaniel and a poodle. In the beginning they were considered mutts but now their REALLY sought after. There really great dogs!!!! If i was you, with your situation, i would go with a cockapoo but make sure it is either friendly towards children (if its a slightly older dog) Or make sure that you allow the puppy (if you get a puppy) to bond with the baby a little so it doesn't get jealous when it gets older of the child. That's really with any dog you get. O.K i hope this advice helps you in SOME way :) GOOD LUCK

Adopt from a shelter. You can get to know the dog before you take it home. Some places will let you foster the dog to see if it is compatible for you and your family. Shelter animals are some of the best animals I've met. They all just want a loving home with a family.

Go check out your local shelter and see what kind of dogs they have, I'm sure there will be a dog there that you will automatically connect with. Just make sure when you get a dog to make the next stop to the vets and have it checked for worms and etc so you can get it on heart guard, there are different kinds of worms people can get from dogs and you don't want your baby to get sick plus worms can make dogs extremely sick also. Good luck

I would go to your local animal shelter and talk to them about adopting one of their dogs that will fit your life style. These dogs need homes more than other dogs. They have usually been through a lot and are able to still be loving loyal pets. Good luck finding a dog!!
