Because youre a first time driver, Get something memorable. IMO you should get something slow, boring, hideous, safe, cheap and hillarious. My choice: An old volvo 240 DL. So ugly and indestructable theyre awesome. Totally boxy/hardcore.

Dont get a nice car for your first car. you wont appreciate it, and when you smash it, itll just be more expensive to get fixed.

I know this isnt the answer you wanted to hear: You wanted to hear something cool and sporty and such. Youll have plenty of cars later in life that fit this bill. I guarentee you youll love an old beater and have 10x as many memories with it than a nice, new car.

What, your dad can't steer you in the right direction and take you for a few test drives?

The new Sonata is nice. The Elantra is a much better car than I ever would have expected. I've heard some weird things happening with the Accent (inexplicable poor fuel economy). The Elantra can, if properly equipped, tow around THREE THOUSAND POUNDS. (That's HUGE for a car that size)

I don't know if there would still be any new Aerios around. The SX4 is based on the same platform as the new Swift which is supposed to be out in the US in the next couple years. The Swift was car of the year in like half the countries on the planet.

DO NOT buy a Forenza, Reno, or Verona. They're Daewoos, and they will fall right apart. The interiors, at least, I don't have first hand knowledge of their mechanicals. All the cabs on Osan AFB in Korea are Daewoos. They've got interior panels falling off. Off-base they're almost all Samsung and Hyundai. They hold up much better.

If it was me, I'd try for an Elantra hatch. Long warranty, capable, handles well, powerful, fuel efficient, and you can probably get a good deal. That or an Aerio.

If you want to get an extremely cheap and a new car that will have a great warranty, I would suggest a Hyundai Accent they get one heck of gas milage. I know cuz I have one. Now if you are into more power and if you have money go with the Tiburon GT V6 with a 6 speed manual transmission and you will be set.

Get a used car. $3000 is plenty to spend on your first car. I would recommend a Volvo. It is safe, but still fun to drive and fairly cool. If you say no to the Volvo, then maybe a Honda Civic.

Once you finish high school, then spend a little more on a nicer car.

a 16 year old dude should not be driving a girlie hyndia or Suzuki. look for a truck or even better a road rippin hot rod!

You don't need a new car for sure. they just cost alot for the smell the way I see it. Honda of any type is the best bet. Fun to drive, reliable , easy on gas and easy to tune-up with so many aftermarket parts.

Neither, but thats just my opinion. I've had good luck with Pontiacs, relativly cheap, reliable (3.8L), sporty, confortable, and decent power and gas mileage. Just my two cents for what its worth.

An '84 Volvo. They're built like tanks, and they're slow.

Stay alive and enjoy your life.
