Hey,I have a question. I have a long history of mild depression--I took 20mg of Paxil for 10 yrs (on and off). my father died almost a yr ago, & I have had huge bouts of anxiety. I couldn't go to sleep while taking Paxil (I previously had no problems)-& so, I'd go in this ridiculous cycle of NOT taking Paxil so I could sleep--then after like 2 wks getting SOOO low I thought I was going to die-so Id start the Paxil again--for like a wk -then get tired of not sleeping
I went to a psychiatrist-- she determined I was bipolar depressed (she said its different than bipolar disorder).she put me on depakote and lunesta-which worked fine.but I don't want to worry about liver all the time & have to do blood panels every 3 mo's (it doesn't seem healthy to take something that requires this)..so anyhow, I went to a new psych--she put me on seroquel 50mg, it made me NUTS!!! (btw, she said I just have depression w/anxiety). Anyone else have a bad exp. w/seroquel?im taking 12.5 mg tonight and scared!

I talked to my psych earlier, she said to take half of a half (12.5 mg) if I felt comfortable --if not, we'd try something else--So I just took 12.5 mg but I am so scared Im thinking of puking it up!?!? help!!!

Don't puke it up. A quarter is tiny, you'll be fine. And anyway, it's important for you to be trying different medications if you haven't been stable on previous medications.

My best friend is on Seroquel and she has rapid cycle bipolar with depression. She is so much more stable now than she was before.

Your psych is a highly qualified professional, you should be trusting her advice, and if you can't trust her and build a strong relationship with her, you should change psychs. Don't be scared.

Is it possible for you to check into a clinic for a couple of weeks where they can change your meds and monitor you at the same time?

Seroquel,
The anti-depression drug Paxil,Prozac,Cymbalta,ect... are the new anti-depressent drugs that don't really help in any aspect for sleep,or bipolar disorder. Depakote is anti phsycotropic drugs that help mood swings. Lunesta is a sleeping aid 1,2,3,mg thay say its not narcotic, but carrys a strong link to becoming dependent. Now seroquel, I used it for 4 months and was taking 200-300mg daily helped me sleep but once I got used to it helped!! Don't be nervous especially when when a little dose your on, also ask your Dr. about xanax The best anxiety drug out on the market. Also for depression try an old school drug but works great. I have bipolar depression, and I was on seroquel. I actually really loved it... it made me sleep like a baby. But the only problem was I was sooo tired the next day I was like a slug. I'm so tired I can't even get out of bed! And that's when I only take 10 mg of it! If it's having bad side affects for you though, it's good to slowly cut down and ween yourself off of it. Just go with what the doctors say- they know what they're doing.

Yeah, I even have been on seroquel on and rancid for roughly 2 and a a million/2 years. It does help with sleep, yet basically word that each persons reaction to that's distinctive. i stumbled on that I have been given dizzy spells in the process the day, and at circumstances, had a problematical time conserving my eyes open. I rather advise taking it approximately an hour or so in the previous you're waiting to flow to mattress, no longer interior the morning like I had to. sturdy luck.

If you are uncomfortable with your meds, you should never just stop taking them without working with your doctor. I'd schedule to see the doc right away and ask what you need to do to get off (if that's what you want). Then ask what med you can try next. Give the doc all the side effects you don't like so that he can give you the best opinion on what might work better.

One of my sons has used seroquel. He didn't like it very much, but everyone's body chemistry is different.

I had an awful experience with it. YUCK, the name puts a bad taste in my mouth. Scared me so bad and I was also on a low dose like you. Never again will it be in my body. So, Yep, used it, hated it, horrble side effects. Hope you get to feeling better!

In low dosages, Seroquel is used as a sleep aid. I was given 25mg to start with and that didn't work so they upped it to 100mg, and that is the low dosage. All it does for me is puts me to sleep.
