A .243 is great for deer. And could work on boar depending on the grain of the bullet and it is not a soft tip, since you have to penetrate a tougher hide. Also depends on the environment that you will be hunting in, the range that your shot will be. Me, I would prefer at least a .270 or a 30-06
Good luck

Wild boar like to hang around in brush a good 12 GA. 2 3/4 oz slug will do the trick also but a .243 should be fine i have used a .223 mini 14 ruger to bag these pests. Wild pigs are out there and in some states it all out war on them with the destruction of crops they are destroying.

It depends how close you will be to the hog and how big the hog is.
A .243 with proper shot placement will kill any hog that has ever lived. If you can sit on rock or in a tree and be very deliberate about how you bullet will impact the animal, you be just fine. However, if I were going encounter the animal of foot at a close distance, I would feel more comfortable with something heavier.
But hey if it's all you have, you still have to hunt. Just get the 100 grain bullets and you'll be fine.

A .243 is big enough with ballistic tips if it is truly a wild hog it is a animal wilder than any deer and as mean as any bear, and a strong will to live a large pistol 44 mag is advisable.
But if you are going on a canned HUNT I would take a five gallon bucket full of corn and a .22

It depends on how "big a pig" you are after.

But since most pig hunts are in the woods, and shorter range, I would use a Marlin lever action. They are shorter than most bolt actions, and are easier to get of the second shot if needed.

For smaller pigs, I would use a 30/30. But if your hunting something that weights a few hundred pounds, I would go with a big bore 444Marlin, 45/70, or 450Marlin.

Remember that boars can be very dangerous when angry or protecting their young. And they carry diseases that affect humans. When you clean/butcher one, you should wear rubber gloves, and be careful not to cut yourself. Many butcher shops won't process a wild boar because there is to much danger of contamination.

Generally speaking, the .243 is the perfect deer round. However, boar is a much tougher game and most will reccomend a .270 round for it.

Here is a link, and a brief quote from it:
Rifle Hunting
High powered rifle hunts are not restricted in the state of Missouri so we encourage rifle hunters to bring either a .243, .270, .300, or 30-06 caliber rifle with shells.

For larger animals like elk and extremely tough animals like wild boar, we recommend a .270 caliber rifle or larger..

the .243 is a sturdy gun, yet i desire the potential of something a splash greater desirable. i take advantage of my mossberg lever action 30-30 with a three-9 x 40 scope(we those days shot a a million inch team of three photos at one hundred hundred yards)for hog and deer looking. it is somewhat solid for hog looking by using fact that could be a carbine and has very solid knock down powder. As for coyotes, we use a .223 or .243 with hollow factor bullets. those 3 weapons have little or no cringe, esoecially the 30-30.

You can hunt boar with a .243 cal. but I personally would not I prefer a larger cal. so it only usually only takes 1 shot. You may want to consider a 30-06 cal. more lethal and cleaner kills.

With proper shot placement and a heavy grain bullet (100grain) a .243 will work fine for hogs. Shot placement is as always the key. I would not in the least bit feel 'undergunned' hunting hogs with a .243
