I'm not from Southern California, so I'm not 100% sure about the temperature there; however, I would wear a sundress or colorful cocktail dress. Instead of high heals, I would go with sandals, b/c the event seems to be more casual. Sandals would also be easier to walk in. If for anychance it's chilly there, I would bring some sort of wrap or sweater.

i live in southern California and today it is cold so i would check the weather and see what it will be like then go from there late afternoon with the sun going down can be cold at th beach in so cal so you might end up with your jacket or windbreaker on any way so so if by some chance its a warm day like we have been having off and on then go with a sun dress and sweater if your a girl or some dockers and a casual button down shirt for a guy and if its cooler then maybe a nice pair of slacks or dress jeans with a sweater i mean if its really casual and its at the beach then a nice pair of dress jeans would be fine.

If its casual wear what you would wear to a beach before you take clothes off to show off a swimsuit/swimtrunks/chest/etc.
Shorts, shortsleeve shirt, and either sandals or flip flops. Sunglasses, possibly a hat.

I would say a pastel/light colored sun dress and bring a shawl or pashmina to cover you up in case it gets cold or too windy in the latter part of the day. You could also wear a darker shade of dress but have a vibrant shawl or shrug or wrap. :)

i would wear something pretty, flowing and summery, no shoes on the beach or maybe just flat pretty shoes
