It's the only way to lose weight... that's what all diets are based on. Sure, you can just eat less and work out more, but if you aren't keeping track then you don't know how fast you'll lose weight, and it's will also be easy to eat too much in a day without knowing it.
I use a program called Fitday. I lost 25 lbs with it last year over 6 months, and when I put on weight, I just go on that again for a few weeks and lose it. It's awesome... it's almost like I can lose weight at will. That program will also add any exercise into whatever calories you burn that day, and let you know how many calories a day you can have to meet whatever goal you set.
It's good because I can go into dinnertime knowing exactly how many calories I have eaten that day, and whether I can have that soda with it, or dessert, or not.
I would always recommend exercise. If you exercise, you'll develop more muscle and you'll burn more calories each day. Plus you'll look better. Someone who is trim and fit looks much better than someone who is just thin.
Check out this site: http://www.fitday.com/
You can open up a free account on there and calorie count online, or you can order the CD and install it on your PC.

I'm a calorie counter. I make sure to include some lean protein and fruits or veggies at every meal and if I want to have a little treat, I will. I just try to compensate for the extra calories by eating less later or excercising more. That's not to say you should get all your daily calories from Fritos and cookies. The whole point is balancing good carbs, good fats, protein, etc. without starving yourself. For me, I have to work out otherwise the weight comes off way too slowly. Over the last 4 months, I've lost 55 pounds. Good luck to you!

yup. I used to be on Weight Watchers & that's what they're all about. I lost 11 pounds in about a month or two. But you have to make a lifelong committment to eating healthier. That was something I just couldnt do, so I gained it all back in the wrong places. So if you are truly ready, then go for it.

Counting calories is a hassle that will only cause stress upon you, a complete annoyance.
Just keep this in your mind: eat less, excersize.
Don't think that low fat means you can eat more.

1200 energy an afternoon is with regard to the strictest you're able to be approximately counting energy, so do no longer flow below that. stick to the treadmill customary and as you get in extra ideal shape do it for longer sessions of time. you apart from mght could get some unfastened weights and carry them thrice a week (do exactly no longer attempt too carry something too heavy and harm your self).
