Well I am really wondering on what other parents think? I have a 10 year old son who bathes himself and being a mom I let him bathe by him self at 9. It might be a little overprotective but he is not a good swimmer and he never washed his hair.

But at 10 I let him do it him self but I always come in and put lotion on him right as he comes out because he never does it when his skin is damp.

As parents, out of everything in your childrens bath routine (washing hair, lotion etc). What is your children's routine with bathe and lotion and when did you let them do it their selves?

Did you think about having him take a shower instead of a bath? My kids started taking their own baths and showers around 5-6 years old, with me in the next room, able to hear them playing, splashing and talking (the door always open a crack). I helped them with their hair probably for the next year - my daughter learned to wash her hair at an earlier age than her brother. Every child is different though.

Well, my kids are 5, 6, 10. I let our 5 and 6 yr old shower by themselves (I set out how much shampoo). They wash and when their done they get out, dry off and get dressed. Then they come out and I put lotion into them. They've been doing this for about a year now. They enjoy it and it gives me some free time.

Again with the lotion questions! 6-7 years old is old enough to let them do all these things on their own.

5 with occasional supervision & help with washing hair. My children hate body lotion (take after their dad) so I prefer to use an especially skin-friendly bath soap with aloe vera. But they definitely have to help clean up the bathroom afterwards!

i have a 10 year old daughter myself i always go in and wash her hair and condition it then let her wash up herself, i leave the lotion in the bathroom and explain it to her on how to apply it before i leave the bathroom. so i think your doing fine, i think that girls are more into the lotion thing than boys, try buying him some guys shower gel and shampoo that smells manly and that might help

I guess it depends on your child. Everyone is different. My three year old is mature for his age so I let him take showers by himself. I keep an eye on him of course. But I make sure that he washes his own hair and everything else.
