You have to keep in mind that everything you do and I did say everything burns calories. A calorie or gram calorie is the approximate energy needed to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 °C. Not that you needed to know that but that's what a calorie is. Even when you sleep your body is burning calories. Not many but your heart, lungs, cell division etc all need energy. Your age, height, body type and gender all play a role in determining your optimal caloric intake. The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. But remember you don't necessarily have to lose weight to get in shape. If you consumed 2000 calories and burned 2000 calories but exercised regularly your body would replace your fat with muscle. So inevitably your weight would remain about the same but your body would look more toned and you would have less body fat. Check out this site http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index. They have a cool calorie calculator. You would be surprised what you can burn!

Who says thatyou have to burn everything you've eaten that day to lose weight? You burn 1200-1400 calories a day even if you do absolutely nothing. Your body burns those calories as feul for the heart to beat and the intestines to digest and your brain and other organs to function. If you eat 1200-1400 calories a day, and are even slightly active, you'll lose weight because your body's burning those calories you're eating and the calories you're using doing any exercise will actually be fat burning off your existing body fat.
Eating less than 1200 calories a day will signal to your body that you're n a famine and you'll actually begin to hold on to your fat. You don't want that to happen, so eat 1200-1400 cals a day and add a light exercise and the pounds will come off without messing your metabolism by eating too few calories.

Your body would need nourishment even if you were laying in bed all day asleep. It has to constantly repair itself, make new red blood cells, keep everything in tip top shape and keep all of your organs going. Depending on your age, sex, and how much you weigh the calories your body use change. For a female, probably 1600-2000 depending on how active you are. It is suggested that you decrease your need by 500 calories/day to lose 1 lb a week.

So, if you normally need 1800 calories you should attempt to get it to 1300. So to do this maybe you could eat 1600 calories of food, and do 300 calories of exercise.

On average, the human body needs 2000 calories to survive. Things you don't even think of burn calories--breathing, walking, speaking, sitting, standing, even sleeping! If you eat too many calories, then you are supposed to exercise to supplement the surplus by making your body do more work than it normally does. And, if you are only eating 466 calories, you are going to starve to death.

That one hour of cardio is not the only time during the day that you are burning calories. You are burning them all of the time>>all of the time!! I know really confusing, but use the link below (American Cancer Society) and you can find out how many calories you need to maintain or lower your weight.

Well burning calories is not just when you work out. You burn calories talking, sitting, standing, and even sleeping, so to lose weight you probably want an average of 1600 calories I heard.
