People in Canada racist? Lol, I think the people in Canada are the least racist anywhere in the world with the exception of like Mauritius or something like that.
You'll find many brown people in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. I you like to have other Indian people around, or just like brown girls (like me) I would check out York, the school is basically 1/3 brown, lol.
You have to check out the schools, for instance WLU (my alma mata) is mostly Caucasian students, while UW, one block away is just as mixed as York.
I would check out McMaster, and Queens, very reputation schools, one of the best in the country actually, great programs. Located in medium sized cities, Hamilton and Kingston (about half a million each), they both have parks next to the schools, and they are culturally diverse....
I would compare prestige-wise U of T to UCLA, Queens to UC Irvine, and UWO to NYU....there are no schools in Canada that compare to Ivy schools unfortunately...but all the universities in Canada are respected

Although the ignorant know no borders, you will find Canada much more accepting and friendly than the states (I am half American who visits the country often). Canada is proud of its multicultural heritage, while I think some in the states feel immigration is a threat (not everyone of course).
If you love the outdoors, I would suggest to you the province of British Columbia (it's the one on the far west coast). There you will live amongst the Rockie mountains, and have all the winter and summer activities at your disposal, including the best skiing on this continent. The cities are not nearly as big as Toronto (the biggest), or Montreal. The university of British Columbia is also highly reputable.
Good luck and welcome

Canada is a wonderful place. I am also American and immigrated to Canada two years ago. I love it. There are certainly some racist Canadians, but most Canadians are very civil, courteous and kind. There is a huge Indian population here in the Vancouver area, and in Toronto as well, I believe. Canada has all of the good things that the US has, but far less of the bad things. If you can come here, I think you will like it.

Check out the Maritime Provinces - New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Friendly, laidback, easygoing people with beautiful scenery, whether you prefer snow or the Atlantic Ocean shores. Top quality universities.
University of New Brunswick in Saint John has a large foreign student population and a spectacular view from the campus. A sizable Indian group, and Indian food available in the stores and restaurants.

i think there are racist people everywhere in the world but most canadians are polite and friendly. (: if you like small places i would suggest British Columbia or the Yukon(if you can handle the cold and snow all the time). There are several very good universities in British Columbia including University of Victoria on Vancouver Island(off the coast of BC), UBC(University of British Columbia) and a few more. There's always room for more people in Canada...we are very multicultural and i personally like to keep it that way..i think it makes for a more diverse and accepting population. (:

canada's great
if your worried about racism, it's far less racist than the u.s. but go to school in a city where it's VERY DIVERSE if your worried about it
Toronto has 3 different universities while Montreal has a few as well
I go to school in Waterloo. There are 2 there and it's a nice place to be, as is most of Canada
a 3.7 gpa will probably put you into any school you wanted in canada

I hope you like hockey! Just kidding...It all depends where you live in Canada. If you pick a city like Toronto, you will blend in. Its the smaller more northern areas where people might notice your race more but probably won't say anything about it. Canada is made up of a ton of different races so anyone that lives here who is racist is a hypocrite.
Come on over!!!

I think you'd really like going to school here. You'll find that we are not nearly as racist as americans. We refer to Canada as a cultural mosaic (unlike the US - meltingpot.) There are tons of canadians all across the country, who have indian ancestory.
The vast majority of our universities are in cities. There are a few in the Maritimes (Atlantic) that are located in small towns. If you like the outdoors try Ottawa. It's a very active, outdoorsy city. Also very multi cultural. Two good universities (Ottawa U and Carleton.) And the city is not as big as Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.

yeah they're racist... they're just not brave enough to do anything about it, so it's mostly dirty looks and vague slights.
Don't go to school in Canada, surely there are more interesting places.

Depending on what you are studying and whether you want smaller towns or bigger cities. A good website that may offer you some good points and starting points about different institutions http://socrates.aucc.ca/index_e.html. Another thing to consider is the cost of housing about the various cities.
