This is Frankly a "trick question"...since anyone who follows the "discipline" of Christ is His "disciple".
There were at least 120 of them present in the upper room on the day of Pentecost...and all the people heard them speaking in their own native languages...
I am a disciple of Christ...and yes, He still has disciples.

Frank, there are three types of disciples. There were twelve PRIMARY disciples, who directly learned under Christ their Rabbi. There were SECONDARY disciples who followed Jesus around and learned from Him too. Seventy-two of them were sent out on a short-term missions internship (Luke 10), and 120 of them were gathered in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 1:15). When Jesus sent these out into the world to make disciples of all nations (Matt 28:19-20), they and many others since did just that, so this TERTIARY group would number in at least the billions over the last two millennia.

Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. Acts 1:10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. Acts 1:13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. Acts 1:23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. Acts 1:26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Well if you mean selected by Jesus, twelve. If you mean by the reckoning of the Disciples they brought the number back up to twelve, after Judas death, and chose Matthias over Joseph. So, that brings the number to thirteen out of fourteen possible.
But, the way I read the Bible we are all called to be his disciples so that brings the number up to uncountable.
Acts 1
" 'May another take his place of leadership.'[e] 21Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."
23So they proposed two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. 24Then they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen 25to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs." 26Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

There were twelve when Jesus was on the earth, but today everyone who believes in Jesus are disciples of God spreading the word and living it out with love.

Original disciples that knew Jesus, or disciples in general? Because the original disciples made more disciples.

Twelve, until Judas had to leave the group, before bread was broke at the Last Supper (unlike the portrait!).
