I read an article from Salon.com that got me thinking. One of my problems with getting a girlfriend is probably my virginity. Based on that article and what I've been hearing it sounds like American dating culture is full of shallow, insensitive, and selfish people. I just don't think people should shun us older virgins. In the article it was about women virgins (but I feel to a degree it applies to guys like me too) and I found it heartbreaking. As far as I'm concerned if a guy is dating a woman and then dumps her because she is a virgin he is not a man.

Here's a link to the article:

First of all, it's not the same with a male and female virgin... not at all.

In the dating pool, men are judged based on confidence and aggressiveness. A male virgin is someone who lacks those qualities. I'd guess it's probably not your virginity per se that prevents women from wanting to date you, but the lack of confidence that most virgins have.

A female virgin is usually someone who is showing restraint, which isn't the same thing. You have to remember that women can have sex whenever they feel like it without too much effort if they want. Us men have to work for it, which is why the different standard.

As far as dating a 30 year old female virgin, it would be a negative for me too, because in our society someone like that is either going to be very religous (I am not), or have emotional and/or sexual issues. I don't want to mess with that.

So for both sides, it's not the virginity by itself that's a turn-off. The virginity is more of a symptom of whatever the real reason is that makes that person undesirable romantically.

there is not any longer something incorrect with being the two of them. The voluntary virgin has made a option to abstain from intercourse- so there is not any longer something incorrect with a private determination - incredibly if he's happy with it. and how do you comprehend you're an involuntary virgin for existence? With that attitude, you're destined to be one. specific, the international is bigoted through fact some human beings have the appearance or the character or the riches to entice a mate extra fairly than others. yet, you will possibly be able to desire to attempt to advance your concern - or get out extra - or discover human beings that are no longer shallow. And definite, there are some that exist.

That is just because as the world get older, things change, people change, Seems like no one is a virgin anymore and if you find and older virgin, they seem like aliens. I don't think it's right but that's how it is. I think abstinence is the best way to go. D.C is one of the most infected cities with HIV in the U.S.A. So abstinence should not be a joke or funny, it should be a goal.

I waited awhile. Don't be bothered by it. It is kind of sad of where society is now and where it is going. Your virginity makes you!! If a girl dumps you of that, that is pretty sad! Then you really know what she only wants! Don't sweat it, ok?

Sex is way too casual right now.

Just stick to who you are and odn't worry about other people's opinion.

I feel that you shouldn't bother about all this.

Just live your life as you like it to be and remember to enjoy it too.
