It wasn't necessarily rude, but it would have been better to just accept. If someone invites you out for coffee, then the proper thing to do is to allow them to do just that-treat you to coffee. You can offer to pay, but if he says that it's his treat, then don't insist. He knows that you can pay. He was just trying to do something nice for you.

Well, you're just extremely independent. That can scare some guys off if you were on a date. It has always been proper for the male to pay for the lady.

It was not rude...it was just your response...just make sure you know what your response meant. He was saying," I want to make a gesture that I can take care of other people other than myself and I like you." You responded with, "I can take care of myself and I'm not interested in your gesture." Another answer could have been (if you wanted to accept his gesture and were uncomfortable with someone wanting to take care of you, "Sure, if I can pay next time."

Not rude exactly. But it did send the message that you didn't want his hospitality, which is not what you want to say to a boyfriend (or any friend). Unless, of course, you're not really that interested in him.

It wasn't rude, but it wasn't necessary either. If you wanted to let him know that he did not always have to treat you, you could have said, "thank you. The next time is on me."

Not rude. He might have been offended though.

NO, it's not rude. It shows you are not a sponge.
