I quote Gandhi.
"I like you Christ, but I don't like you Christians. You Christians are so unlike your Christ."

John Lennon said of Christians, "people fall head over heals for the teacher and miss the message." I think all the supernatural stuff distracts from the important things-The humanity teachings. These are cliches and little more. Going to church and proclaiming, "Jesus, the son of God is risen," is the easy way to think your soul is saved. I think that in Catholic mass the sermon on the mound should be recited instead of the Apostle's Creed. The later says nothing about any teaching of Jesus. But it explains the required belief of the church.
By most definitions, I am a non-Christian. And I respect and love the ideals of Christianity.

I respect some parts and some interpretations. I don't respect others. The concept of your tiny percentage of followers being the only ones worthy of salvation is an offensive, arrogant, dangerous belief. That is the belief that has so easily rationalized the crimes of your practiosioners.
I also have a major problem with the concept of forgiveness through the acceptance of Christ. The ease with which you claim to forgive is too easy. It is based in another thing I have a problem with...your concept of salvation through faith rather then acts. Acts matter. The idea of original sin is silly.

Yes, I do, actually. I basically live my life with "Christian morals", minus the belief in God. And I think Christianity does a lot of good for quite a lot of people--it's the Christians who try to force their beliefs down my throat that make me mad. I know it's with good intentions and all...but I find it rude. When I say I'm not interested, I'm not interested.

You mean if the eye offend the pluck it out and cast it from the? If the right hand offend the cut it off? Like that? that's stupid. No I don't respect anything like that. But you know what? I don't see any Christians doing any of that stuff either.

some ideals Yes like Love thy Neighbor as thy self. To practice Love, Faith and Hope. To promote the fruits of the spirit like Love, joy, peace, Kindness... etc ( Galatians 5.22-23)
some ideals BIG NO, like stoning to death any woman that is found un-chaste before marriage, killing a disobedient child or killing people for working on Sunday... or ravaging a land killing all male children and married women, but virgins to be distributed to the men as spoils of war for their personal lustful desires.
DOUBLE BIG NO: hating one's parents, siblings, spouse and children in order to be a christian ( Luke 14.26)

Up to a point. Much of the ethical framework (a lot of it boils down to "Don't be a dick") is positive. But most of what I respect about Christianity can be found elsewhere too.
"Jesus was all right, but his followers were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me." --John Lennon

i respect benevolence (to a point). i respect kindness to others. i respect a lot of morals... but i can't say that i agree with the ideas of Christianity. "Do what the dead nice guy said we should" isn't exactly the example i think that i should follow. i respect individuality and courtesy and open-mindedness, which are often fleeting once every aspect of christianity is taken to heart.
