I have to wait 3 minutes for the tranny to warm up and once i do i put it in drive and it slams....into drive. if i stop and change gears i have to wait again another 3 minutes for it to work again but it slams again!!! what could be wrong?

Does your explorer also shiftharsh into reverse? If so the the likely suspect is the solenoid assy in the trans. These solenoids control the fluid pressure needed to shift. For some reason Ford has a problem with these; even up to the 2006 models.

Check the fluid level. Also your transmission may have a bad rear seal causing the fluid to leak out into the transfer case. My aunt's Mercury mountaineer did the same thing, and there was a service bulletin out for that particular problem. Take it to your ford dealership and have them check that seal for you.

it could be a simple fix such as the torque convertor, unless it is inside the transmission itself, then you cannot replace the part , you have to replace the whole transmission. AAMCO give free estimates.

change the oil and filter.sounds like the oil isnt pumping up fast enough.or it could be the front pump.

why ask us.........i mean like ull only be wasting a few bucks on a car checkup at a garage or somthing..........=P
