My dog began exhibiting strange behavior this evening. The best way to explain it is that she seems to be having a hard time swallowing. And not while eating...just when she's swallowing her saliva. Its looks sort of like how people swallow when they have a very sore throat...like an exaggerated swallow.

I checked her mouth and throat opening for any congestion, but couldn't find any. Does anybody know what this behavior suggests?? She is a 75lb German Shorthair.

Is her face swelling or anything? If it is you need to take her to the vet ASAP because she is having an allergic reaction. I would recommend taking her in anyway. She could have swallowed something that is far enough into her throat that you cant see it but is causing her irritation. Is she coughing when she does this? Also is there something small she could have swallowed like a toothpick or needle that could be stuck? I would have a vet check her out just to make sure because if it is an allergic reaction and her throat is swelling shut she could suffocate before tomorrow if you wait. I am not trying to scare you but I am just giving you the possiblilities that I am guessing from what info I have. I could just be something simple but it could also be something major. I would at least call a vet and see what they recommend. Good luck and I hope it is something simple

Yeah, it suggests that this dog's owner would rather spend time getting advice from stupids on the internet than do something obviously useful like TAKE HER TO THE VET.
