Carbon Dixode

2007-02-21 16:21:33 · answer #1 · answered by Justin 6 · 0 0

Its written: CO2, with the 2 subscripted if possible. It stands for Carbon Dioxide.

Like the name suggests, carbon dioxide contains one atom of carbon and two atoms of oxygen.

despite what Al Gore may have told you, CO2 is NOT a pollutant (if it was, then so would water by definition). All Oxygen breathing animals produce it as a byproduct. In the same cycle, plants "breath" CO2 and produce Oxygen as a byproduct. CO2 is essential for all life on earth.
