I think it depends on how severe your OCD is. If it is interfering with many aspects of your life and doing OCD behaviors takes up over an hour a day, it is probably pretty serious. It may be difficult to break the cycle of OCD without any pharmacological support. Not that medicine has to be a permanent situation, but it may help. Whether or not you choose to pursue drugs, I think it is important to get counseling. Good luck-and I commend you for taking steps toward getting better!

I got rid of a mild case of it that was really bugging me by refusing to do the behavior. I made myself think of other things. It was an effort but it went away surprisingly quick.
