because they don't know the rule and they are following the posted speed limit signs. If they are going slow, they show be on the right side lane, and also it is an etiquette for doing that.

Before we look at the question, answer this. How fast do the "slow pokes" go past your WEAVING THROUGH TRAFFIC LANES? Anyway, speeders are never stopped going over the speed limit because that is more dangerous than trying to make drivers obey the law. If the traffic flow is faster than the speed limit, its okay. Of course there are the law abide-rs and they are going the posted speed limit which is the fast lane speed limit. As for the slow on-ramp drive ups, well my squirrels can only speed up so fast, Man!

They don't understand that it's the law that slow-moving traffic must move to the right, even if the faster traffic is speeding. There's kind of an air of self-righteousness about them, like "I'm doing the speed limit, and so should you."
Re the slow entry on the onramp, I think they've just received some very poor driving instruction.

hey, people sometimes think that if they are going 5km/h over the speed limit, its okay to drive in the fast lane. or sometimes people have an issue about checking their rearview mirrors. i know its frustrating, just be patient, or pass from the right lane. and for all those who say that everyone should be speed limit, its a bunch of bull. cops allow about 20-30km/hr about the speed limit on the highway, as long as you are not weaving through traffic, because thats just dumb.
ps its called a highway not a free way.

The vehicle code in MY state CLEARLY states:
NO vehicle shall travel at speeds higher than the posted maximum speed.
That's ANY lane, pal, even the carpool lanes where many people seem to think there IS no speed limit.
ALSO: slower traffic keep right means slower than the speed limit, NOT slower than the guy who wants to go 80 or 90.

A simple thought for you here
One day while driving on a major highway here in Texas
I had a lodge brother of mine in the car with me who just
happens to be a Lt with the Texas DPS
I was encountering an abnormal number of such drivers that day on the roadway and I WAS DOING THE SPEED LIMIT (believe you me) and---- I made a comment about the very thing you're saying here----What the hell is the matter with these people ---they're in the way and holding up traffic and _____ on and on ---- after a good ten minutes of my tyraid -- I turned to Mark and asked him--- what in the world do YOU think this is--- he just smiled back at me very knowingly (he is a fairly quiet dude) and said---- Larry -- are THESE, actually people you would want to see driving any faster than they are ?? After just a moment of thought on this---- I haven't complained about them since !!!!

People are very self centered these days and have no regard for the people around them. i would ask your city council or county supervisor to post more signs that read "slower traffic move to the right", and actually have the highway patrol ticket slow drivers. Driving too slow is as dangerous as driving too fast. also when you get behind a slow driver, just go around them, typically if you flash your lights it will only make them nervous and they will probably freak out and cause an accident, its easier just to go around them.

A. People are actually obeying the speed limit, and at lower speeds you are less likely to lose control of the vehicle.
and
B. 55mph is the optimum speed for fuel economy. The faster you go over 55, the lower miles per gallon you get from your fuel. I read where for every 5mph over 55mph that you lose around 10% mpg...So in a car that gets 30mpg at 55mph, if you were to go 80mph you would only be getting 18-21mpg. So they are trying to save money.

Some people drive slow becuse they are rubberneckers...other times its because they know where cops "hide" to catch those who do speed....As far as entering an on ramp, most of them are coming on from a city street....But most importantly the people who you think are driving slow arent...they are just being safe
& want to get home to see their loved ones...(that includes pets)

people do it to save gas... driving 65 miles per hour saves more gas than driving 80. they are in the fast lane to pass someone going even slower or they are just not paying attention and forget to get over. i guess the same people can ask you why you are driving so fast... 80 mph is breaking the speed limit here in California. hehehe... ok well i hope i helped you... drive safe :D
