I have a page on My Space and to my surprise some of my students found out that I have a page and have offered to be my, my space chat friends. My page is presentable enough where Jesus Christ himself could join if he wanted to. However I'm torn because I'm wondering would it look right to have kids on my page. I don't want to send the wrong impression. What do you think I should do?

DON'T DO IT. I am a teacher and I am telling you it is wrong. If you care at all for your job, and your reputation, you would not have any social contact with your students outside the school setting. Besides if you are a teacher, that means you are way ahead of your students in evry topic of conversation. There is nothing to chat about with them, unless of course that you want to corrupt them. That is the way parents will see it, most important, that is the way the law will see it.

Drop this idea as fast as you can. I can think of no legitimate reason for you to be chatting with your own, or anyone else's students. If I were your supervisor and found out, you were then would be in a world of hurt.

I assume you are a teacher if you are asking this question. My first reaction was no but thinking about it more it is a good way to interact with your students outside of school and it is also a good way to make sure they aren't doing anything stupid, i say go for it

If you're a responsible teacher, you would know that it is unacceptable to fraternize with your students. Whether you're carrying out a "professional" relationship or not. For every student who tries to add you to their Myspace, you need to talk to their parents to see what they think.

I think as long as no lines are crossed it doesn't matter. And it depends on if your talking college or younger. If its younger kids then yes parents might have a problem with this.
