I wanted to see everyone's response to this question. I have this know-it-all woman I work with and she said to get rid of Colic... you take an onion, cut it in half, boil it, then take the onion out and let the water cool then give the water to the baby. She said the water is sweet and it will get rid of it. That doesn't sound right to me and i just wanted to hear what everyone had to say.

I wasn't going to try it, I thought it sounded like a joke. I really don't think that sounds like it would be good for the baby.

It kinda sounds a bit hokey to me. I saw a doctor on oprah say that colic is most commonly caused by your diet while nursing. Usualy it is caused from dairy or wheat. If you are not nursing then maybe your formula has these ingredients, you should try cutting them out, and see if that helps. Good Luck

That sounds like some bizarre, back-water remedy that could make your baby get a serious stomach ache. Any doctor will tell you that there are no known causes for or cures for colic other than time and patience with the baby. It is thought to be caused by gas build up--which can only be alleviated by waiting until the baby works the gas out, trying a baby gas reliever or trying rectal stimulation with a thermometer coated in Vaseline. Even those are not always solutions to the colic. They may help temporarily, but if the baby has a severe case, time and letting them cry it out are all that work.

I have never heard of that before, My son had a very bad case of colic. I used catnip and made tea and gae him an ounce of it a day adn it seemed to help him a bit but we wound up having to get him put on a colic formula that worked miracles its Enfamil Nutramagin and it worked in two days on my son, that may be something you want to talk to your doctor about

Doesn't sound right to me either- I'd talk to your doctor- our doctors never said to do anything like that for our son who had colic the first 2 and a half months of his birth. It was hard because we'd try almost everything- at least everything the doctors told us to... examples- Vibrating seats, car rides, baths, singing, rocking, bouncing, Mylicon drops if gassy, swaddling, etc etc. I personally wouldn't try anything like that, but that's me- I'd ask a doctor before trying anything like that. You don't wanna do any harm to your baby.
Good luck!

i think it's one of the reasons for colic the amount of air your baby takes while feeding.if you're on formula try using AVENT bottles.they say it reduces colic and i can attest to their claim.my children use only avent feeding bottles.try it...

I have never heard of this, so I went surfing the net. Apparently, this is an "alternative" medical treatment. I've included a link so you can check it out.
