All the islands are different, depend what you want to see and do.

Regardless of what some people say, Oahu is beautiful, it's just different. You need to realize it has one of the largest cities in America on it, a city with a very unique feel, but a city none the less. If you leave the city there is tropical and beautiful things to see and do. Pearl Harbor, North Shore, Chinatown, lots of restaurants and nightlife (something the others lack). Keep in mind there are a lot of tourist, and the people that cater to them.

Maui is the best in my mind, plenty to do and see. Kauai is lush and exactly what you picture when you think of Hawaii. The Big Island is massive and powerful.

You can find what you want on all of them, just pick after you decided what you want to see. Best to visit two of them, have a great time.

Actually only you can answer this question. You should go to a book store and look at all of the Hawaii travel books and pick the one that appeals best to you. Make sure that it covers all of the major islands.

Each island have their own unique things. Oahu has Waikiki, the Arizona Memorial, Polinesian Cultural Center, Blow Hole, and so on. It is also the busiest and most crowded. It also has the most restaurants and bars. Maui is totally different. It has Haliakala and the dormant volcano. It has the best sunrise you will ever see, the is Hana and the road getting there, it has the seven pools. You absolutely need a car, there are not as many people or hotels, or organized things to do. Hawaii, the Big Island is more desolate. You are absolutely lost without a car. Rugged beaches, an active volcano, macadamia nuts and coffee. Most of the places to stay are very expensive but that have fantastic golf coursed.

What you need to do it look at the highlites of each island in the book. Mark the items that you would like to see and pick from there. If you choose maui as an example, you could spend a day trip to another island and take a chartered tour to see the things you really want.

Everyone has different things that they like and would guide you according to their likes, not yours. It would be a shame to go to Hawaii and find out after you got back that there were things you missed, maybe even a couple of miles down the road. The travel book is well worth your time and investment.

There are also a lot of Hawaii internet sites that yo can get information. Be careful though, most of those sites are sponsored by people trying to get you to buy something.

I cannot understand why people say oahu is Ugly, they obviously did not drive out of Waikiki,

I agree that the City of Honolulu is much like any other big city, and Waikiki is like any beachfront resort but it still has something magical about it.

However get out of town, drive across the Pali highway, take a trip up Tantalus, go to the North Shore, Waimanalo, Bellows, Yokahama the list is endless and the beauty spots numerous and stunning, I could list dozens more.

The beach at bellows is incredible, I have had days when I have been alone on the entire stretch, and Yokahama the same - How can anybody say that oahu is Ugly.

Its the perfect place, days on a deserted beach, nights with the best selection of restaurants you can imagine, shopping...

Dont get me wrong Maui is stunning, Kaui is incredible and The Big Island is out of this world.

We travel from England every year and we love them all, but for a first trip Oahu wins hands down, Just avoid Lewers Street at the moment as there is some construction work going on, Hotels on the Ala Wai Canal are quiet, cheaper and peaceful and only 2 mins walk from the strip.

Have a wonderful Holiday

Oahu is the busiest and has the most action (shopping, restaurants etc.) Kawaii is the most quiet and romantic with waterfalls and lots of seclusion for couples who want to be left alone. Maui is a great happy medium with great beaches and fab resorts and lots of restaurants and activities. So depending on what you're after, those are my suggestions.

Kauai. Hike the beautiful 11 mile Kalalau Trail on the NaPali Coast. You can also helicopter in.

If you are looking for touristy stuff then I would go to Oahu, if you are looking for a more relaxing setting them maybe consider Maui or Kauai

i would say either Maui or Kauai. Maui is more for lovers, Kauai has got more of an island vibe. O'ahu sucks, it's just a big city with alot of traffic, too many people. If you want to really be on vacation, I would suggest you try Maui or Kauai.

Oahu since it is the easiest to get around and has both a "city" and a "country-side" so you can get a nice taste of both.

Oahu has the most stuff, but it's probably the ugliest island. Maui has plenty tourist stuff and is nice.
