Acts :15:20,29, specifically says to "ABSTAIN FROM BLOOD,"so why then do people take blood tranfusions. If a doctor was to tell an alcoholic to stay AWY FROM ALCOHOL, would it make it right for him, if he injectes it into is vein, God is d creator, he knows what is best for us, don't you think we should OBEY HIS COMMANDENTS AND TRUST IN HIM, Moreover it is evident that he created us, so he would know what we need and wat we don't need, afterall he is right, there is so many COMPLICATION WITH BLOOD TRANFUSIONS, U CAN CONTRACT AIDS AS WELL AS MINOR SICKNESSES SUCH AS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE & DIABITIES. So why don't ppl take alternatives? And it is scientifically proven that it is safer and better to use alternatives{no bood treatment, other substuted liquid). So why do people get mad at Jehovah's witnesses because THEY TOTALLY REFUSE TO DISOBEY GOD'S COMMAND, "TO ABSTAIN COMPLETELY FROM BLOOD"?

Because most people do not realize that any operation, "small or large" can be taken care of without "blood"

This is long, but you have asked a very serious question.

“A growing number of hospitals are offering an alternative: 'bloodless' surgery,” reported THE WALL STREET JOURNAL. “Originally developed to accommodate Jehovah's Witnesses,” stated the journal, “the practice has gone mainstream, with many hospitals promoting their bloodless-surgery programs to the general public.” Hospitals around the word are discovering numerous benefits, particularly to patients, when implementing strategies that curtail the use of blood transfusions. Currently, thousands of doctors are treating patients without resorting to transfusions.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES and HEALTH

Jehovah's Witnesses, some of whom are physicians and nurses, are known worldwide for their rejection of transfusions involving whole blood or primary blood components. Does their united stand against this practice stem from a man-made doctrine or a belief that a person's faith can heal medical ailments? That is far from the truth.

Cherishing their life as a gift from God, the Witnesses strive to do their best to live according to the Bible, which they believe is “inspired of God.” That book encourages worshippers of God to avoid practices and habits that harm health or endanger life, such as overeating, smoking or chewing tobacco, abusing alcohol, and using drugs for recreational purposes. (Prov. 23:20; 2 Cor. 7:1)

By keeping our body and surroundings clean and getting some physical exercise for health reasons, we are acting in harmony with Bible principles. When Jehovah's Witnesses get sick, they demonstrate reasonableness by seeking medical care and accepting the vast majority of available treatment options. True, they obey the Bible command to “keep abstaining from ... blood,” insisting on nonblood medical management . (Acts 15:29)

A “Circular of Information” prepared by three U.S. blood agencies states on its first page: “WARNING: Because whole blood and blood components are made from human blood, they may carry a risk of transmitting infectious agents, eg, viruses. Careful donor selection and available laboratory tests do not eliminate the hazard.”

Regarding a Canadian study, the Glove and Mail newspaper reported that thousands of blood transfusions involved near-misses be cause of “collecting blood samples from the wrong patient, mislabelling samples and requesting blood for the wrong patient.” Such mistakes cost the lives of at least 441 people in the United States between 1995 and 2001.

No wonder Brian McClelland, director Edinburgh and Scotland Blood Transfusion Service, asks doctors to “remember that a transfusion is a transpland and therefore not a trivial decision.” He suggests that doctors ponder the question,”IF THIS WAS MYSELF OR MY CHILD, WOULD I AGREE TO THE TRANSFUSION?” More than a few health-care workers express themselves as did/one hematologist, “We transfusion-medicine specialists do not like to get or to give blood.” If this is the feeling among some well-trained individuals in the medical community, how should patients feel.?

Many doctors, would agree with medical director Dr. Michael Rose, who says: “Any patient who receives bloodless medicine is, in essence, the recipient of the highest quality surgery that is possible.” The highest quality of medical care--is that not what you would want?

This is not the reason Jehovah's Witnesses do not take transfusions, but it is a good enough reason for refusing transfusions, and one that you should consider if ever you need blood, because all operations can be performed without blood.

Death by 'TRALI'

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI), first reported in the early 1990's, is a life-threatening immune reaction following a blood transfusion. It is now known that TRALI causes hundreds of deaths each year. Experts, however, suspect that the numbers are much higher, as many health-care workers do not recognize the symptoms. Although it is not clear what caused the reaction, according to the magazine “New Scientist”, the blood that caused it “appears to come primarily from people who have been exposed to a variety of blood groups in the past, such as ... people who have had multiple transfusions.” One report states that TRALI is now near the top of the list for caused of transfusion-related deaths in the United States and Britain, making it “a bigger problem for blood banks than high-profile diseases like HIV.”

Back in the days of Noah, an ancestor of all mankind, God laid down a remarkable law. While granting humans the right to eat the flesh of ansimals, he forbade them to consume the blood. (Gen. 9:4) He also gave them his reason, equating blood with the soul, or life, of the creature. He later said: “The soue (or life) is in the blood.” In the eyes of the Creator, blood is sacred. It represents the precious gift of life that each living soul possesses. God restated this principle again and again. Lev 3:17; 17:10, 11,14; Deut. 12:16,23.

Shortly after Christianity was founded some 2000 years ago, believers were give the divine commandment to “ABSTAIN from....blood.” The prohibition was based, not on health concersn, but on the sacredness of blood. (Acts 15:19, 20,29) Some argue that this God -given restriction applies only to the eating of blood, but the word “ABSTAIN” speaks for itself. If a doctor told us to abstain from alcolol, we would hardly feel at liverty to inject it into our veins.

The Bible further explains why blood is so sacred. The shed blood of Jesus Christ, representing the human life that he gave in behalf of mankind, is key to the Christian hope. It means forgiveness of sins and hope of eternal life. When a Christian abstains from blood, he is in effect expressing his faith that only the shed blood of Jesus Christ can truly redeem him and save his life. (Eph.1:7)

Jehovah's Witnesses are well known for taking these Bible commands to heart. They reject all transfusions involving whole blood or the four primary blood components -- redcells, plasma, white cells, and platelets.

Christians would seem to be bound by the bible's words in "the Apostolic Decree". This decree was the first official decision communicated to the various congregations by the twelve faithful apostles (and a handful of other "older men" which the apostles had chosen to add to the first century Christian governing body in Jerusalem).

Here is what the "Apostolic Decree" said, which few self-described Christians obey or even respect:

(Acts 15:20) Write them [the various Christian congregations] to abstain from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.

(Acts 15:28-29) For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper.

Quite explicitly, the Apostolic Decree quite plainly forbids the misuse of blood by Christians (despite the fact that nearly every other provision of former Jewish Mosaic Law was recognized as unnecessary). It seems odd therefore, that literally one Christian religion continues to teach that humans must not use blood for any purpose other than honoring Almighty God.

Even if one ignores blood transfusions, the question remains: How can other self-described Christian religions justify the fact that they don't even care if their adherents drink blood and eat blood products?

I think that most people don't realize that God truly meant for us to abstain from blood. They think that they are just not supposed to eat blood, like we would? That is a very good analogy about the comparison with alcohol. If my doctor told me to stay away from alcohol, I certainly would understand that I should not put it into my body by any means. The same is true with blood, but most people do not reason out these things in their thinking, if they did, they would realize that it stands to reason that we should not take in blood in any manner. I think that if they knew the truth about our future and what will really take place, they might reconsider their beliefs, but so many people have so many false assumptions because they believe the doctrines and teachings of men instead of what the Bible really teaches.

But remember...
2 Corinthians 4:1-4: " That is why, since we have this ministry according to the mercy that was shown us, we do not give up; 2 but we have renounced the underhanded things of which to be ashamed, not walking with cunning, neither adulterating the word of God, but by making the truth manifest recommending ourselves to every human conscience in the sight of God. 3 If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through"

It is so sad that so many people are mislead by the teachings of men, and that they rely on false assumptions instead of searching the Scriptures for the truth. But this is what
Satan wants.

2 Corinthians 11: 13-15: "For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works."

1 John 4: 1: "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world."

Acts 15:20,29 ".....abstain from eating food offered to idols, from sexual immorality, from eating the meat of strangled animals, and from consuming blood." Now why do the JW's only stressed on the taking of blood. So is it O.K to eat foods offered to idols, which I know you do. For example, you do not celebrate Christmas, birthdays etc. but you can eat the goodies from the pagan holidays? You do not make a fuss about the meat you eat, where it is purchased and who killed it and how it was killed. And last but not least no complaints about sexual immorality - like committing adultery and fornication, which is rampant in the Kingdom Hall. Your only concern is about taking blood transfusion, when the text clearly states "do not consume blood" referring to the pagans animal sacrifices, drinking the blood and pouring it over themselves and each other. All the diseases you refer to above are mostly contracted through sex and or bad diet. People get mad with JW's because they try to get the spec out of their brother's eye, while a beam is stock in theirs (See Matthew 7:3).

Are you a Jehovah's Witness? I just saw this same thing on their website. Some doctor gave up his profession because of what you are saying. His reasoning was that God would heal whoever needed healing. Can you imagine if all the physician's of the world did that? Reasoning like this causes mankind to de-evolve. Way to go sheep.

Religious rules had meanings in the days they were written that do not apply in our modern world. Our mistake is in thinking that these people wrote all their stuff "for the ages." Do you think that 2,000 years from now, it would still be logical for people not to be allowed to take that cloth tag off of new mattresses? Jehovah's Witnesses, like a lot of other religions, project yesterday's logic onto today's problems. It is often a poor fit, because...Belief is not a rational substitute for thought.

Actually, there was a case in the news somewhat like this where a man was ordered to abstain from alcohol, so he took it as a enema. One shot and he was dead in ten minutes.

because a JW will watch their children die because they will not allow a simple organ transplant.

blood transfusions save lives every day. and the possibility of having a problem with a transfusion today is probably about the same possibility of being attackied by a shark in the mississippi river. the blood is screened for every known disease and even signs of drug use in the donor. yes in the 1970's blood transfusions could transfer many unknown diseases. but they still saved more lives than they hurt.

furthermore are you vegitarian. have you eaten meat. well it has blood in it. it may be cooked but it is still blood.

but that is not what Acts was talking about. read in context it is as such.

(Acts 4 thru 20)

4And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

5But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

6And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

7And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

8And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

9And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

10Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

12Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

13And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

14Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

15And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

16After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

17That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

18Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

19Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

20But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

******************************************************

Abstain from idols, fornication, from things strangled and from blood.

how do you get from this that you cannot have a blood transfusion? in this context it is very clear (at least to me ) that the arguement started about Circumcision, and was debated to a still. and then it was said that these people were turned to god, that circumcision was not required but that they follow the norms of that society. to not worship idols. not fornicate. and abstain from things strangled. (this can only mean eating snared animals in this context. ) and from blood. and in this case blood could indicate that they could not drink the blood of animals. (belieced to be a pagan practice at that time) or that they could not draw the blood of a citizen. (fear of the gentiles may have made the locals think that they were warlike. )

and let us remember that this is not god speaking but Paul speaking (as he claims) directly for god. these are the words of a man.

would you allow your child to die on the words of a man that died 1500 years ago and fully 1200 years before the science of bloos transfusions started saving lives?

if so than you are a heartless individual and a fanatic.
