Don't you want to pay for your child's support? Be a man and take care of your kid you heartless bastard!
It's only $161... that's not even enough to begin raising a child!

Don't be so cheap! Your ex only wants $161 per month??? How can one expect to raise a child on that??? $161???? That's dinner for two in a restaurant!!!!! I cannot believe that you would even post such a question! Do what responsible adults do: Pay up!!! In fact if you have any integrity at all then you should add a zero to the $161 and pay $1610 per month!

Pay it. If you had to raise a child yourself you would realize that $161 per month is like throwing a grain of salt in the sea.
The real question you should be asking yourself is whose child is it. Since she did not have an immaculate conception I am assuming that you share half the responsibility for the child's existence. MAN UP!

If you are the father and you want to see your child I would definitely pay up. If you are not willing to pay up then you should give up all rights to the child and let someone else be the father (ex. the baby's mother's new boyfriend). Although if you do this, you should never ever try to claim the child because someone that doesn't pay child support and doesn't have anything to do with the child isn't a real father. So you make your decision and then if you choose to give up all rights go to the court house and have it confirmed.

every state is different (slightly) about these matters. if you were married, and the sole father figure to the child, maybe that is why you are required to pay the support. because its in the best interest of the child to keep that positive male role model.
if you were not married, you can still fight it. get an attorney and have the support order lifted. maybe you were ordered a second DNA test (some are close, thus ordered again).
in any case, with all due respect, that $161 is laughable... doesnt pay next to squat... or even pay for food for two weeks.

Depending on which state your in...there are different levels to what can be done. The child support system has degenerated into a torture device for the women involved. $40 a week aint bad but if you petition the court and show lack of income you could get it a little lower. The minimum in my state is around $23 a week. Thats what Im talkin about! You can start at the link below. Good luck.

Consider yourself lucky! $161 hardly pays much when it comes to raising a child. You should pay it or else she can take other measures to make sure she gets her money directly from your paycheck before you even see it. Also, I hear they are cracking down on Moms/Dads that don't pay child support. You can loose your driver's license over it these days and sometimes, even your freedom. My advice, pay the $161 and be done with it.

let me get this straight. You ARE the father and you dont' know what to do about child support?! Pay It! Pay it now! Its your job.
There really should be a test before someone can have a child. I hope you worded this wrong and the question should read that you're not the father and don't understand why she wants money.
Otherwise you're just proving yourself to be completely irresponsible and shouldn't be permitted to ever have sex with a potentially fertile woman again.

Um, what's the problem? If you are the kid(s)' father, pay up.
However, if you have been paying for a while and you just took the test, you're still obligated to pay until the test proves you aren't the father. Then you can ask the judge to throw out the court order (though there are some EVIL judges out there).

Once you get the DNA tests back and you are the father, I would suggest you pay her. The new laws regarding dead beat dads are all over the internet and this could hurt your career or personal life if people know that this is how you take care of your children and how does that reflect on a future relationship for you. Take care Heather
