They are scammed and brainwashed. It would seem to be a fad for some, but John and Tom have been Scientologists for YEARS, so it's not like they're suddenly jumping on the "latest craze" bandwagon.

They are trying to make "some sort of" public atonement for their sinful lifestyles....all the while, unbeknownst to them...their "practices and beliefs" are as FILTHY RAGS in the presence of the ONE TRUE GOD, and HIS FREE gift of salvation to all who come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
One might think, say just a mere 30 years ago....."ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?" when offered the notion that many would follow these cults (Mormonism, Scientology, Mason's, J.Witnesses). But as the bible predicted, as the Word of the LORD has ALWAYS been there......many will fall away, giving heed to seducing spirits.
And humanity thought it didnt need GOD?
SHOW ME one good thing that came from the removal of GOD from our culture? Is it all coincidence that when GOD was str8 kicked out the schools, that crime and other heinous acts went thru the roof? Is it just coincidence, the FURTHER MAN WALKS IN REBELLION and DISOBEDIENCE from the very GOD who created; and breathed life into their mortal souls.......that our society is more and more consumed with SELF, that all hell is breaking loose all around us, and yet we cannot TAKE A HINT from on high, that the LORD is not going to tolerate it forever. Too many are already lost, and those who are blind will stay blind, and those who know the truth will walk humbly with their GOD......but ALL must face HIM, and give an account for the life they have lived.
Scientology, and everything surrounding it- just screams "INSANE!".....but hey! it's a fad, just like kabbala was, and ppl have to circumnavigate the vast array of "religions" and go and complicate the "simplicity that is in CHRIST!".....unfortunately so. Many do this very same thing; it's as tho' they exhaust every option to find REAL inner peace and eternal security before they finally decide for themselves to check into the claims of Christ, and how HE did DIE for them!
Same thing with those "Latter Day saints"/Mormons. The entire cult following have either never known Jesus' final admonition, or they have known it~~but found a way to "make it right" in their own minds.....I just think alot of celebrities are the most spiritually lost ppl on on the planet..........they have it all, have gained the earth, but have forfeited their soul in the process.

They believe it helps them better themselves & work on their flaws.
Lots of everyday people believe in it too, they just don't go all Tom Cruise on us.
I actually think the Hollywood side of Scientology is a fad though.
Remember Kabbalah a couple years ago ?? If you didn't have a red string bracelet, you weren't cool.

Well it helped them....they have both been scientologists for over 20+ years. John is awsome!!!! I dont know whats going on with Tom though....everyone has wierd times in thier lives. Stop being so judgemental (=

John Travolta was going through a tough time when a girlfriend died and some Scientologists helped him through it. I don't know after that.

Because it works for them.... just like it works for all the other people who are not famous actors but also choose to be Scientologists.
By the way, there are lots of other artists who it works for too, not just actors, and some of these are also quite famous some not .

They find out about Scientology, apply it to their lives, find it helps and then continue to utilise it.
More importantly they are not deceived by opinion or here-say but look for themselves.
Pretty simple huh?
There are many non-famous Scientologist for the same reason.

They build huge luxurious celebrity centers, and yachts, and cruise ships, and other butt-kissing things for them. They give them everything they want, and center a lot of their philosophy around telling them that they're better and more important than everyone else. (Feeding celebrity egos is a sure-fire way to get them into your religion.) If you aren't a celebrity or multi-millionaire, then you're pretty much relegated to serving the celebrities and multi-millionaires.

That happens because other famous people believe in equally ridiculous things, coz what is ridiculous to some people are faithful truths to others.
We are as ridiculous to some people, as others are as ridiculous to us.
