I know greyhounds are bred for the racing track. But who breeds them and why can't regular people get puppies?

Greyhounds are bred by show breeders for conformation also, not just racing people raise greyhounds. The ones we show are a little taller. Bellow is the link to the parent club and you can contact people through it to see if anyone has anything available.
Being that everyone is commenting that there aren't many Greyhound breeders other than for racing, I am going to explain that just a tad. Greyhounds are large and really not that popular as pets other than the ones that are retired from the track. More popular as household pets, (and also as show dogs, as there are more shown) are the Whippet and the Italian Greyhound and in those breeds you will find more breeders.

You can get greyhound puppies, they are just hard to find. Most greyhounds that people get for pets come from the racing track, but I know a few that come from breeders.

Because Greyhounds are pure. They have no Mutt in them at all. You cannot get a greyhound puppy because they are afraid that a person will breed them with others. I know someone who breeds them..l belive they have to have a lience to do it.

We can't get them because the racing people dont want us to. They are strictly controled by the racing community. Not as many breeders as you think.
