Should you pull to the opposite side? Or make a tight left hand turn? This is yet another argument that my roommate and I are having. I would also appreciate a reasource, and for reference I'm in Maryland.

tight left turn. You have to stay in your lane.

You should be turning from the leftmost lane, for sure. If you're worried about people rear-ending you, start slowing down well in advance of the actual turn.

And always use turn signals, for a selfish reason. Help other drivers predict your actions, because this makes them less likely to hit you.

Tight left hand turn. Why weren't you using a signal?
