I've done the low carb diet before and it worked really well for me. but i gained all of the weight back when i quit smoking. so, now, i'm back to losing the weight again.

so, my question is, when i get into ketosis, i generally go on for a week to 10 days and then i take 1 or 2 days off. is that enough of a break?

P.S. i don't want to hear from anyone telling me that the atkins diet is going to kill me and that i should stop. that is not what i'm hear asking about. thanks.

Why are you taking a break? You aren't supposed to take a break from being in ketosis because it takes 48 hours to get back into it. You can be in ketosis for months, depending on how much weight you need to loose.

I did the diet for a couple of years and would take a single day off now and again.

Once I think I was off for 2 days....

The ketosis smell though was a killer for my wife.
