all currency is now protected in ten different ways so it would be impossible to even try it it will never work

There's nothing in a dollar bill that blocks a scanner. However there are multiple things going on here:

1) The software that works with the image might figure out that it's money and refuse to work with it.

2) There are numerous features of money specifically designed not to scan accurately at the resolution available on common scanners. (Note that the high interpolated resolution listed on many scanners will not defeat this.)

3) The color of money is specifically chosen not to print right.

4) Color laser printers will tattle on you. They print an identifying number on every color printout they make. While this can't be traced directly back to you it can be used for comparison--if they suspect you printed it they check your printer vs the counterfeits.

5) The secret service takes a *VERY* dim view of counterfeiting.

There appears to be an urban legend? that opening scanned currency in photoshop issues a warning that printing currency is illegal, anyone with PS and a scanner wanna check it out?

Hi. A real bill has a watermark (look through the bill into a light) and a magnetic strip (ditto). Don't try it.

size, type of paper, colors, and security features, its about 25 year crime...

& you got to remember theres 2 sides when the scanner hits the one side your gonna get messed up looking bill because both sides are gonna be on one side lol

only on the scanners that don't have good software, most of the software know knows all of the bills and will let you scan them except they will show up with a watermark on them...
